This is a wonderful cafe with a large outdoor seating area when the weather is nice. The coffee is great as are the pastries and breakfast foods. We have also been for lunch and found the portions to be quite large. People take their time, read the paper, chat...an old time elegance envelopes the place. Service is efficient without charm...English menus if needed.

Great coffee and nice food, not the cheapest but I guess you have to pay for quality in life. Everyone there seems to speak enough English to get by as well.

The location near the Palmengarten (5 minutes walk) and Alte Oper (1 underground station) isn't bad. There are not too many Kaffeehäuser left in Frankfurt. This one is known forever. Unfortunately the prices are quite shocking if you haven't been there for a while 4,50 to 5 Euro per piece (take out prices are 50 cent cheaper). And the cake is good but basic. They do have exceptional meringue cake - exceptional because no other cafe have this kind. On weekends they only serve double portions of coffee for another almost 5 Euro. So as a family you'll end up with quite some check. Service is friendly but not enough waitresses around....

We were there with a very large group that I'm not sure the cafe was really equipped to handle. It took nearly an hour to get our cake and coffee. The food was great, but I'm not sure the wait was worth it. Maybe it was just the size of our group.
