“Rembrandts! Rubens!”
Reviewed 17 February 2014

Outstanding collection here and well worth the visit. The views from the interior are almost as stunning as the paintings. Start on the third floor so you see the best paintings before your brain goes on overload. The cafe on the bottom floor was also very nice. We only enjoyed an espresso but saw the buffet breakfast layout and it would not disappoint. Highly, highly recommend a visit and make sure you have time and energy to enjoy the surrounding park. This is Europe at its finest.

“Go see!”
Reviewed 24 October 2013

When in Germany, I have to see Castles. I spent my childhood in this city, but it was again a treat to go to the Castle, which is a museum, and very interesting. Nice place to purchase a book to put on the coffee table. They also have a seasonal cafe outside, and a nice coffee shop inside.

“Waterfall extravaganza!”
Reviewed 27 September 2013

We went on a Wednesday, never made it inside the Schloss as it was situated at the base of a mountain park and we hadn't gone to see that. We went to see the water display and the Hercules statue at the top which took us all morning to walk upwards! There were a lot of steps towards the top alongside the dry cascade but it was worth it for the view of Kassel below. We enjoyed a cool drink at the top then made our way down to the base of the cascade ready for it starting.Having seen similar at Alnwick Castle it was still impressive being about double the length at least but then it carried on over some rocks turning into a waterfall then under a bridge, over an aqueduct and off the end which was absolutely stunning and finished off as a giant fountain. We took plenty of photos and had time to wander from one to another as we progressed downhill so the timing was spot on. And it was ALL FREE!

“Nice Gardens”
Reviewed 3 July 2013

We spent several hours here walking the gardens, seeing the house, and walking to Herkules monument. They have a greta collection of roses. Plenty of water scenes to make it worthwhle for the photographer.
