Good location, nice breakfast.
But I was surprised when a hotelman entered into my room with someone else when I was sleeping in midnight

Pros: decent breakfast at a decent price (8 Euros), certainly compared with breakfasts at a lot of other German hotels, which (in my experience) are either extremely expensive or not very good. This seemed like the sweet spot - not cheap, but at least an acceptable price, while having most of what one would want without some of those lavish spreads you find at high-end hotels.
My (admittedly limited) interactions with the staff were all positive. The waiter at the breakfast was nice, as were the clerks at the front desk.

Cons: No AC, and though it was a very pleasant temperature outside, I couldn't open the window because of mosquitos and noise (My room was on the street side.).

The shower curtain was half the width of the bath tub - so water leaked on the floor. The shower handle couldn't be raised and the shower head couldn't be turned - it was at the height of my shoulder. So, I had to duck to get my head and face under the shower head.

The TV remote didn't work well either. The TV would just spontaneously increase in volume, and there was no way to turn it down. I tried the mute button, and it would "unmute," by itself, just a few seconds later.

When I went to pay, their credit card contraption wasn't working. It wasn't a huge problem. They just took my number and entered it later, but the fact that it wasn't working seemed emblematic of my experience.

Just a comment on what a couple of the other reviews have said:
1. "Eva T" say the wi-fi was free, but that's not what it says in the hotel's visitor information directory, at least in my single room. Maybe I should have asked, but I didn't even try (since it had a list of fees for the wi-fi listed).
2. camdenrockportfoodie says it's "[l]ike a residence inn but much nicer" and "newly renovated" and "fabulous bathroom, big and most modern amenities," [e]legant" with "light comfy beds." I wonder if we're talking about the same hotel. The room I stayed in was definitely *not* recently renovated, not "elegant," and the bed was neither "light" nor particularly "comfy" (it was fine, but nothing great compared with other hotels in this price range). Moreover, (as I said) the bathroom had problems. So, I wonder whether this is one of those hotels where the particular room you get matters a lot.

Dear guest,

thank you for this detailed comment and the time you have taken for it. Our team from the service would like to say "Thank you" for the nice compliment about our breakfast buffet.

We would be very pleased if we can get a short information about your room number so that we can have a look at the technical deficiencies concerning the shower and the TV in this room. We can only apologize for any inconvenience you had the time staying with us.

Our hotel has 100 rooms divided in several room types, starting with some simple rooms called “Economy” right up to a generously “Suite”. Between we have different categories equipped with varied furniture and different prices.
Because of that it could happen that two guests made two different comments regarding the room and the equipment even though it concerning and the same hotel.

If you like to have a detailed description of all our room types, please call our hotel - we would be very pleased if we can send you all the information you need, so perhaps your next reservation will be done in a better category.

We hope you will visit us again.
Best regards

We stayed here in late May 2014 while visiting our niece who goes to the University of Marburg.

Breakfast was excellent. Generous buffet, extremely fresh food, well trained and attentive work staff.

The room is a different story. Its was "renovated". Bed was ok. The furniture nice but dated and worn. The closet by the door was original...not renovated. The room had no smoke detector and no sprinkler system. A real safety concern.

The room had no AC even though it was advertised with AC. Our room was over 90 degrees F (32C) when we arrived. It was a hot day in late May in Marburg. We asked the staff why are room had no AC, they just stared at us. We asked if they had a fan. We were told no. Then the front desk person walked away.

The bathroom was NOT renovated. It looked like something from an old East German film. It was cramped, had old fixtures, and the shower stall has full of mold. Why renovate a room and not renovate the bathroom?

Location was decent, not too far from the bahnhof, the University and the Old Town area.

They also need to improve their website with better photos, room descriptions and be able to read their website in other languages (English/French/Russian etc...)

Compared to the easyHotel we stayed at in Berlin just days before, it wasn't as clean and the furniture was tired and dated. They need to renovate their renovated rooms.

Room Tip: Lots of road and bus noise in rooms in front. Consider a room in rear. However views from upper leve...

Dear guest,

thank you for this detailed description of your stay in our hotel and the time you have taken for it.
Our staff from the breakfast service has been very pleased about your praise and they like to say “Thank you”.

With regret, we have read your comment about the room and we sincerely apologize that the design of our economy rooms did not hit your taste- as the name "Economy" suggests, this is our smallest and simplest room and no standard version.

Our highest concern is the safety of our guests, for this reason our hotel fulfills all security
and all fire protection measures which are prescribed standards in our Land of Hessen.
The hotel disposes of an automatic fire detection system which is directly connected with the fire department.

Only 25 % of the rooms are equipped with AC, unfortunately economy rooms do not have AC at all. We were quite surprised of your description saying that the room was advertised with AC. Please let us know where we can find the advertisement so that we can correct that mistake.
We are very sorry that you had so many inconveniences with this matter and we can only apologize.

Regarding your comment about our website we are very pleased to inform you that we have taken your advice and we are currently working to relaunch our website at least in English.

We hope you will visit us again.
Best regards

I very much enjoyed staying at this hotel. The location is good: close to the university, close to the train station, close to downtown, in a safe area.
The reception staff are exceptionally friendly! Very helpful and nice.
I was staying in a room on the second floor in the annex - I had to walk through two passageways to get to my room from the main staircase. The room had apparently been renovated just the week before - everything was clean. The room was a good size for my needs: there was a desk (and free high speed wifi), there was a mini fridge and a large TV. The bed was comfortable.
The bathroom was very nice, but sadly the towel heating thing did not work yet (I asked about it at the reception, and they told me the maintenance people said because it was so recently renovated there might still be some problems).
I was a little disappointed in the towels - the hotel was so nice otherwise that I was expecting fluffier towels. These felt like the ones I have at home...

The breakfast was very good, lots of choices. I also really liked that there is free tea available in the lobby at all times.

The rooms are clean, though they do not change the towels after the second night (which is a minus) and people who work there are friendly. Location-wise, it is quite efficient as it is close to the Elisabeth Church, the old town and the university and many restaurants/cafes that are worth paying a visit. Here comes the best thing about this hotel: Breakfast. I'd definitely stay there just to get that amazing breakfast again :)

We stayed here for three nights in November 2013 while visiting the university. We chose the hotel based on the reviews here, and we were not disappointed. The approach to the hotel by car can be a bit tricky, and we had to pull over and ask at reception for directions to the garage. However, once found, parking was secure and easy to use. Our room was big, well appointed and clean, and we slept well the whole time we were there. We were impressed with the appearance and cleanliness of the hotel throughout, as well as all the staff, who were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was plentiful, although there were no pastries at all, which I would have liked. Location wise, it is less than ten minutes walk to the station, and about 15 to the old town, and the area itself is safe. The little touches such as free newspapers, and free tea, in the lobby, were very good. Overall we were very impressed with the hotel and would recommend it to others, although the best price we could find is still a bit expensive for this class of hotel.
