“What a view! Worth the walk or cable car ride”
Reviewed 8 November 2013

We took the cable car ride up the hill to the monument (and back down). And what a view on the trip and from the top! The cable car ride was great, cars for two and you can buy a split of bubbly with 2 souvenir glasses for 6 euros. This really is a fun thing to do, and so happy we were told to try it out. The vineyards were being harvested, and all the fall colors below make for a great ride. At the top, if you didn't already walk up the hill, there is a circular trail through the woods that brings you back to the overlook, so if you want to strike out on the path, you don't have to worry about when to turn around. The monument is huge and makes for great photos. The view is one of the most beautiful sights, especially with the leaves changing colors. I say this is a must do!

“Well worth the walk”
Reviewed 5 November 2013

The monument is definitely worth visiting, either on foot via the walk through the vineyards, or via the cable car. There are very good views of the Rhine and the vineyards, and the nearby restaurant has a great selection of cakes !

“Lovely views”
Reviewed 20 October 2013

Worth taking a ride up on the little cable car across over the vies and once there so wonderful view down to the Rhine and Ruedesheim. Very impressive statute and some informative displays about the building of the monument. Would recommend taking advantage of the round trip with boat trip back to Ruedesheim from Asshmanshausen or the other way round which involves a gentle walk through the woods.

“Great view”
Reviewed 14 October 2013

Great view over the rhine, as for rudesheim, they always take you there on a sunday when every thing is closed, boring apart from a street of bars, I would rather go some where more interesting.

“Phantastic view from that monument to the Rhine and the region Rheingau”
Reviewed 13 October 2013

It is great to see that munument, which can be reacher either by street or from the Old City Rüdesheim, near Drosselgasse, with cabin cars. Great sightseeing it is to be there and if the weather is nice. The monument NIederwald-Denkmal with the Germany on top of it has to do with history of Germany from over 120 years ago after a war with France and also reunification of German regions. There is a restaurant too and lot of souvenirs can be bought. Some time ago i had a special permission to play some music with accordion for the guests. There is forest and nice paths to walk along. Sometimes even a horse waggon is near the parking plots and carries people around. As far as i read it was part of a movie with Elvis Presley and this area can be seen in that movie, but he was not personally here, but his double as far as i read about it.In some years the cable cabin cars brought averag of over 300.000 people to that monument each year and more than 30 million since decades of years. It is worth to spent many hours there, it depens what persons do like and also it can be seen in less than one hour. Regarding wheel chair it needs to come with a along the streets not with the cable car.
