“Terrible hotel and staff”
Reviewed 12 November 2010

We stayed here in October 2010 during a 28 day trip in Germany and Netherlands.

We were given a very very small room with 2 single beds that were very uncomfortable. It was quite cold and we could not adjust the heating and had to open the window which meant we alternated between freezing and cooking.

We were segregated from the other guests in the morning when we came down for breakfast, there was a large group of German guests there but the were tables available but the very unfriendly staff member put us into a separate room for breakfast, we felt like we had something wrong with us and could not get out of the hotel quick enough.

We would never recommend this hotel to anybody.

We stayed at the Central Hotel for 6 nights in April. It is well situated and very peaceful - away from the main road and railway. We had a room with doors opening on to a small garden with our own patio. The beds were very comfortable and the room beautifully clean. The shower room was very small but again well looked after. We were unlucky to have some rather noisy guests on one side of us for a few nights. This has prevented me giving the hotel full marks for sleep quality, which it really deserves.
The breakfast choice was really good - from hot bacon, egg and sausage to a very varied continental one. The staff were very attentive and friendly.
Things are expensive in Germany for those exchanging pounds for euros so we didn't eat at the hotel in the evening. We found three places which offered good value for money. Two on Marketstasse, Da Toni - an Italian restaurant and Stadt Frankfurt , a more typical German eaterie with an outdoor area. On Grabenstrasse was Altdeutsche Weinstube for a more formal meal. Be warned - drinking out is expensive so instead of our customary bottle of wine we stuck to a glass each! Also beer and coffee seemed expensive.
We visited Weisbaden on the train and Bingen by ferry - both easily accessible on foot from the hotel.
For those enjoying walking you can walk in both directions from the hotel - along the river towards Frankfurt and at a more elevated level towards Koblenz. Don't forget to visit the famous Lorely Rock from which superb views along the Rhine can be enjoyed.
We booked our break with E-Bookers at a very good rate and would definitey return to the Central Hotel if in the area.

The hotel was in a good location and relatively quiet since it was a couple blocks away from the train tracks that run by the river with nonstop traffic. I would not recommend the "apartments". They are really a room with a sleeping loft up a set of partial steps, more like a ladder and very hard to use. We didn't even attempt to put our luggage upstairs. The restaurant looks nice, but we never saw anyone there. Hotel seems thin on staff since all of the hotel desk functions had been moved to the bar so that the one person working could take care of all.

There are a lot of 3 star hotels in this town that look pretty similar. Central Hotel was OK, but nothing memorable. The room was very small and basic. The buffet breakfast was good. The staff varied from extremely friendly and polite to quite rude. (I asked if I could print out a boarding pass on their computer and was met by eye rolling and hostility. I decided to find an Internet cafe instead.)
Also, if you happen to be in the room when housekeeping knocks, they don't come back. I was there for 3 days and the room was never cleaned.
I wouldn't stay here again.

I book Central Hotel with Expedia and got a great rate. My original intention was to stay in Bingen across the river but all the hotels were full and this was the only one showed availability. I was disappointed at first for not getting the hotel facing the river but soon to realized that it was a good thing. The railways run on both side of river front every 5 minutes and was very noisy. So to get a hotel away from the riverfront was a blessing. Hotel Central turned out to be a little gem in a wonderful charming town of Rudesheim. The lucky part is that the BD River Cruise starts in Rudesheim as the original starting point. So we were the first people to board the boat. When the boat cross over the river to the second stop in Bingen, there were lots of people queued up to get on the boat.
The hotel was a charming small country inn type. Staff were friendly. The rooms were clean and adequately comfortable. Breakfast was expensive and not included in the rate that we booked but it was good. The hotel is within the walking distance to all the features of this small quaint town such as boat dock, cable car, restaurants and river front. It also has free parking. To drive to Bingen, takes the ferry across the river. It cost 7 Euros. The closest bridge to cross the river is in Mainze.

We arrived and were welcomed,we had a wonderful dinner and had a great weekend at this hotel. I will certainly be staying there again.
Church bells were very noisy on Sunday morning but that is not the hotels fault.

Convenient location. Right beside the downtown church. 5-10min walk to the train station. 5 min walk to the docks for the boat tours.

I booked a single room. The one i had was a bit small and had a wierd smell. The owner switched me into the double room immediately. The double room was nice.

The staffs were very nice and helpful. They even have a bottle of Riesling in the room as a welcome gift. The breakfast was good and included in the room price.

I'll go back again.
