Okinii is an all-you-can-eat concept that is actually done extremely well. First it is important to mention the iPad ordering experience made our dinner fun and easy. Each table is equipped with an iPad and custom Okinii app. You're allowed to order 5 dishes per person, per round. With well over 100 options it's a little daunting to choose which ones to try but the iPad makes it easy to sort by categories and track what you've already ordered. As well as anxiously await the 12 minute countdown to expire.

The service was incredibly fast. So fast that we barely had 90 seconds between hitting "OK" and the first dish arriving at our table...during a busy Saturday night no less. Each dish is served as soon as it is ready so you have a consistent line of food coming. There was absolutely no mistakes or delays which was shocking given the volume of food the kitchen was pumping out.

You'd expect that this type of concept would sacrifice quality for speed or quantity. However that is absolutely not the case. Every dish was tasty, hot, and well presented. The grilled vegetables, seared squid, and beef each were highlights that my wife and I still talk about. We barely made it through the 3rd round of food but just had to order a second serving of the beef whether we could fit it in our bellies or not. It was just that good!

Unfortunately our online reservation never made it to the hostess but we thankfully weren't turned away. Despite the full dining room they still found us a seat. Perhaps a confirmation email stating the reservation was received would have helped. But that's the only negative thing that can be said.

This is the first time I've been to a restaurant where you can order via iPad. It's great! It's an all-you-can-eat type of restaurant but with no disgusting buffet lines. Here's the process:

You get to choose to 5 tapas-style dishes per person on the iPad and it gets sent directly to the kitchen for cooking. The dishes come out and you put them in your face and after 12 minutes you can order 5 more and so on and so on. You do this as many times as you want until you are bloated full of meats. The iPad shows what you ordered and how much time is left for the next round. Really great idea.
