Description: We are a family run business and have been cooking traditional Indian tandoori food for the past 30 years in the heart of Hannover, Germany. The owner, which has been the same since the first opening of our restaurant, has ensured a high quality of food and service to be provided every time to our dear guests. We pride ourselves upon cooking our food fresh and strive to give our guests the best culinary experience possible. We are glad to have been able to be hosts of multiple celebrities, both Indian and German, such as former Vice chancellor Sigmar Gabriel or current Premier Minister Narendra Modi.

Good service. Great food, had a Lamb Vindaloo which was just the right kind of mix between the hot pepper and vinegary tomato flavours I like. Also had a well made garlic naan and Dal Makhana. Well worth a visit, especially as I find most other Indian restaurants in Germany serve a bland version of the food you can get in a decent curry house.

Friendly service (we turned up without reservations but they still managed to squeeze us in). The food was really tasty, I had the lamb vindaloo and I loved it. It was really spicy, as it should be. We'll be eating there again.

Been there with some British people who, other times, took me to some great Indian restaurants in the UK, so I expected something better, even considering many Indians having dinner at the restaurants. Had some fried Indian cheese as a starter, a small, not very tasty portion, with no spicy hint at all. The Jalfrezi was better, but not in line with my expectations; nan and garlic nan both quite good and well cooked. The service was not bad as other fellow reviewer advised, we were a party of more than 20 people but waiters looked like being in control of the situation. Aircon did not work - inside it was unbelievably hot. Not sure I'll come back when in Hannover.

We are there for Messe fair and we stay there for 8 nights, on 2 day we try to find some of Indian restaurant in Hannover and we found Taj Mahal, we took a train from messe ground to nearest railway station and from their its about 10 to 15 minute walk to this location.

We reach there around 7.30 evening and the restaurant is full, generally we have to book table before we go but we didn't know this so we plan to takeaway food to our place where we stay.

We reached home and try this Indian food, its so good and taste is also good same like India taste, we ordered some sabzi, butter nan, buttermilk, pickles, green salad and etc...but overall the food quality and test very good. as per my advice must go while you roaming in hannover

I saw other people's reviews but I can't share their feeling. Or maybe we were lucky, I don't know.
I was there this weekend and we experienced a delicious meal, a very friendly service and a desert from the house.
The place also looks nice and the seats are very comfortable.
The prices are a bit high for Germany (paid 40 Euros for 2 persons: 2 main dishes, a portion of garlic nan, a coke and a small beer). The nan bread is very small and costs 3.20 Euros. I had double the quantity and same quality for 2 Euros.
I don't know if I'll return there because of the prices.
Anyhow ... much better than Shalimar. Next Indian on my list is Himalaya.
