“Ideal location, spacious room”
Reviewed 24 September 2012

The old-fashioned name notwithstanding, this is a thoroughly modern hotel. For one person my room was spacious and very appealing; if anything I wished they had cluttered it up a bit with a coffeemaker and such. The desk was fine for work. For my 5-night stay I found it best to purchase a week's WiFi connection, which I found to be reliable.

The hotel is right across from the main train station, which functions also as a modern shopping mall, busy day and night. To the left out the hotel's door and heading away from the station is a pedestrian shopping street that takes you quickly to the city center and the intersection of most of the tram lines. To the right out the hotel's door are the the main tourist office and the beginning of the "Red Thread" walking tour. It's hard to imagine a better location for any purpose.

Room Tip: Some rooms face the busy plaza in front of the station and some face into quiet courtyards.

Finishing up a two-week trip, this hotel truly was "saving the best for last". It has a perfect location across a courtyard from one of the nicest train stations in Germany. We could not have had a better place to spend the final night of our journey. First and foremost is the location. Not only is it close to the station, but the station has a lovely underground shopping court with direct access to a large grocery store with (chilled!) wine and beer. We were upgraded to a suite (first time this has ever happened to us after many years of traveling) and I would absolutely pay for the upgrade were we lucky enough to return. It was one of the nicest rooms we have ever stayed in (and we have stayed in some luxurious hotels). The three walls of built-in wardrobes were enough space for a large family to stay for a month. The bathroom was glorious: the musical shower, the large separate toilet room (with bidet), the double sinks with the TV in the mirror, and the large soaking whirlpool tub. The living area was large with a wall of windows overlooking the lovely courtyard. The breakfast is lovely and ample. Unlike some posts here, we had no problem with the Internet. You sign up with a third party vendor and it was a little pricey, but it worked well. We have experienced this in many other hotels, but I agree it is annoying. We much prefer hotel policy that simply imbeds the Internet cost in the basic rate because you feel like you are getting a better deal. The one suggestion I would have is for them to have an ice machine available for guests. The one negative was that there was man smoking in the courtyard below our window and because that is a closed space the smell permeated our room for the duration of his cigarette. This was surprising because the hotel website makes it so clear that smoking is not allowed. We really loved this hotel and are hoping to find a reason to return for a much longer stay.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the courtyard. Pay for the upgrade to a suite.

This hotel is very conveniently sited opposite the main station in Hanover. However it does not suffer from being in this location. Apart from train links, trams are close by and hotel is sited in one of the main shopping areas. However this hotel is not just about the location, the hotel has a very modern feel and the rooms are very spacious and have good environmental control. Service is prompt and friendly and staff have good local knowledge. Breakfast if buffet style and very generous. A very good hotel for business or pleasure. The only downfall is the lack of WiFi. A paid service is available in lobby/rooms but at 17 euro for 24 hour not the most competitive. This aside Hotel would have got an excellent rating

Room Tip: Aim for front facing, view is not the best but better than internal facing rooms which overlook offi...

Ideal location. You can stumble across the road to get ot the station where a regular train takes you to the airport for a pittance. The hotel is forgettable from the outside but the rooms are nothing short of amazing. Wuill definitely stay here again if ever I end up in Hannover.

Chose this hotel for a short break based on the review on Tripadvisor and although the hotel itself lived up to expectations. The shower / toilet arrangement on 5th floor room was a little too unusual for us to consider returning.

The staff were very helpful and whilst they tried very hard, their age/ inexperience showed when it came to giving directions to either there carpark or recommended restaurant. The car park for example,is accessed in esssence by driving through the front of a shop and has no signs indicating that it belongs to the Mussmann until you have driven in and waiting for the car lift. Hint. The entrance is on the left as you drive down the one way street and is before Chopard . Suggest you use google maps and street view before driving to it.

Breakfast had an excellent range of hot and cold dishes and the staff very attentive.Although it is in the basement, it has the light and airy feel of a conservatory.

The bedrooms are very large and well appointed with a well stocked mini bar and good choice of pillows. Although near the main station, the double glazing is good and makes the room very quiet, but do not try opening a window to let in fresh air. Then you find out how noisy te area is.

Whilst the shower was obviously new and well finished as was the toilet, it is the arrangement in our room that would stop us visiting again, or at least requesting a different room than one on the 5th floor. Having a shower door that is frosted glass ( no musical shower !!) and open to the room might be a novelty or add to a spicy weekend, the same cannot be said for a glass toilet door with toilet right next to it !!!!. This arrangement not being helped by a dressing area leading to the toilet/shower that had large mirrors each side giving good views of the room ( or vica versa)

So although I would recommend the hotel for many points, best make sure you are very familiar with who you share the room with as you will certainly know them a lot more after !!!

For reference , our room was Sommernachtstraum.. This room is certainly NOT recommended for families

Room Tip: Check the bathroom arrangements, some have glass toilet and shower doors

Fantastic location, great staff, good breakfast buffet and large, comfortable and spotlessly clean rooms - loved it! As we were only passing through Hannover, but wanted somewhere close the shopping area, this hotel was ideal and surpassed our expectations.
