We stayed just one night but we ended up wishing we had stayed longer. It was one of those places where one just feels like they are among family. Everyone was very friendly and even the guests there where very nice. The rooms were a bit small esp the bathroom, but the atmosphere more than made up for it. The break fast was good but needed a bit more variety.
I loved the fact that it was perfectly situated with regards to the beach. It is also in a quiet area.

Room Tip: Ask for the upstairs rooms, the ground floor rooms have rooms on the walk way. We stayed on the grou...

Thoroughly renovated navy resort that survived the WWII air raids. Nice staff, clean, good breakfast buffet. Parking just outside hotel. All rooms have sea view. Reasonable prices, all in all hard to fault!
Tip: Be sure to book a dinner table in the neighbouring Seestern hotel days in advance. In high season, Wilhelmshaven restaurants struggle to meet demands.

I stayed here with my family for just over a week in July.We had two adjoining rooms with small balconies overlooking the sea. The rooms were spotless and the area generally quiet and peaceful, so peaceful in fact that we left the patio doors open at night so making our sleep at night even better. Breakfast was plentiful. All staff were pleasant and welcoming.
The hotel was perfectly based for access to the beach, play areas, the aquarium (really good!) and restaurants.
We as a family really enjoyed our stay - thanks to Olaf and all staff.

Room Tip: All rooms promenade facing,

I stayed at the Delphin for one week in March. When researching this hotel, I was intreagued by its location looking at maps on the internet.
It ended up to be quite far from my work site and a couple of km into town.

The hotel sits on a really nice walking promenade on a slice of land. You can go for great long walks. Adjacent to the hotel are a couple of other small hotels, an aquarium, a Unesco visitor's center, and a navy museum.

March is somewhat low season, so during the weekdays (and especially evenings), I felt very alone as I walked the promenade. Weekday restaurant choices at this tme of year (within walking distance) are something like (3)? If you like or need the solitude, this hotel can be a good choice in March. On the weekend, the weather turned really nice and many locals packed the area.

The hotel:
Reception:
- Friendly and helpful staff, especially the owner

Elevator:
- No elevator - 2 flights of stairs to most rooms

Rooms
- There are a few styles and price ranges
- For my first night staff made a mistake and put me into the large apartment on the top left of the building. They informed me the next morning that I would have to move.
- For the rest of the nights, I was in a deluxe one room at the far right.
(Plus) The room had seperate alcove entry, so when the (2) doors were closed, you didn't hear anything from the hallway
(Plus) The bed was very comfortable and for me a little softer compared to the German hard standard
(Plus) The view was nice through the glass balcony doors
(Plus) The work desk with chair is pretty good and right next to the window
(Minus) The balcony didn't have a chair and there were a lot of Pigeon droppings. I assume in Spring and summer this may be different.
(Minus) I had great WiFi internet in my first room (the apartment), but when they moved me to my new room, I lost internet and could never get a good connection for the time of my stay.
Also
- no safe
- no smoke detector

Water temperature & pressure - good
Heating - good for March with controllable hot water heating
Sound proof - very good (my room was at the end of the hall, which helps)
Room decor and ambience - nice!!
Cleanliness - Great

Restaurant
- Breakfast was quite good, served in the main building below you
- The fruit salad was cut from fresh fruit, not canned
- Dinner is available in their other building. I ate there 4 times. Food was good and generous and priced reasonably

To know:
- Amex not accepted

Conclussion:
- Great value for room qualtiy (in March) compared to what's available in Wilhelmshaven town itself (note I'm not comparing to the nearby Columbia hotel because that's way more expensive)

My recommendation if looking for a hotel in "off season"
- If you don't mind the solitude and isolation and put a higher value on hotel and room quality, go to the Delphin
- If you need to be near the hustle and bustle of town and other people and restaurant choices, and you can accept a hotel and room with lower qualtiy compared to Delphin, then find a hotel near the walking district in the center of Wilhelmshaven

Room Tip: Room 25 at the far right had poor WiFi - request a room close to the WiFi Router box

Usually stay in the Hotel am Stadtpark when I go to Wilhelmshaven on business, but decided to try out something else this year and did not regret it.
The hotel is situation directly on the beach promenade, 30 meters away from the sea. Most rooms have view over the sea and a small balcony. You can leave the window open at night and let the waves gently put you to sleep. The bed was very comfortable with little chocolates provided on the pillows. The bathroom had recently been redone and was spotlessly clean. The breakfast in this small hotel was surprisingly large with eggs, salmon, meats, cheeses, different types of breads, cereals, jam and butter. Definitely something you dont want to miss. The hotel also offers wireless internet for a very modest fee and you can sit at your desk, overlook the sea and do some laptop surfing.
The Delphin hotel is run by the same person who runs the hotel Seestern, but has a more modern, fresh, young and trendy feel to it.
