“The Pullman is a nice elegant old hotel.”
Reviewed 19 December 2013

We spent one night at the Pullman. I gave it 4 stars because the choice for 3 stars was labeled "average", which was not accurate, but I would say it was good, not very good. 3.5 stars. As Aachen is rather small, I am confident it is one of the best choices available Nd has lots of charm. The hotel was grand, and some aspects were luxe, but the need for maintenance and updating were also apparent in a few places. Our room was VERY far from the lobby, and some of the areas we walked through appeared worn and very sparse. The lounge downstairs near the restaurant was lovely but a bit worn. The staff was very accomodating, our rooms were very nice, with soaking tub/shower and nice very comfortable beds with lots of pillow choices. Wifi was free but slow. There was an up-charge of 10€ for broadband. Chocolates on the night stands, Evian on the desk, and a small selection of snacks in the room. We ate lunch in the restaurant which was hosting a very large business group buffet, so the service was just ok, and the food was decent but very pricey. Lunch for 3 with only 2 glasses of wine (for one person only) was 150€, and while the presentation was lovely, the food was not worth the price in quality or flavor. They were also out of my first two entree choices. We were underwhelmed by the food. The coffee was very nice at the end of the meal, served with a stacked silver serving plate of chocolates and sweets. The atmosphere is nice, particularly if you sit in the bay window as we did.
The location is nice, and was within walking distance of the cathedral and shopping 15 minute walk). Easy to drive to the hotel from the freeway. Overall, I would definitely recommend.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the front of the hotel. Ours were way in the back and the view was of a paved...

The Qullenhof is the old Grande dame of Aachen. It is a wonderful hotel within an easy 5 minute walk to Rathaus and Cathedral. We spent 2 nights (Wed & Thurs) here. Our 2nd floor room looked out over a roof but the room was very plush and quite. The room had 2 doors to get to the hall so you never heard anything. The bath had a separate shower and bathtub. The tub was huge and deep. It was a wonderful soak! The bed was very, very comfortable and had nice linens. The hotel has self parking in the garage which was convenient. The staff were typically German, cool and efficient. We did eat dinner 1 night in the hotel restaurant. The food (poached monk fish) was excellent but expensive. I wanted to stay here because my Great Grand Father did in 1936. A very nice hotel, pricey but very luxurious. I would stay here again!

Stayed here for 2 nights and had 4 rooms booked. The hotel is on beautiful location next to casino and eurogress with good garden surrounding. The rooms were very small just a single bed with no space left. No amenities in room bot even tea pot where the temperature is cold. The housekeeping was not upto mark as compared to other hotels I used in Netherlands a day earlier. They did not replace the bathroom amenities and had to reuse the same. Wifi in room is poor but free. The broad band is charged if you need it. The bar is good where we had a good time. The restaurant breakfast is average with no hot variety just eggs sausage and bacon. For an 4 star hotel below expectations.

The hotel location is good, having in mind that Aachen is also relatively small. The hotel is luxurious in several aspects. The rooms are simply decorated but in an elegant way. I would probably expect that in such a hotel the room would be equipped with a bath tab instead of a shower. Breakfast is very good and equivalent to the hotel quality. So is the restaurant although very expensive.. The service is of high standards. Heating in the room was a little bit of an issue. The bed was probably the most cosy I've seen in a hotel. Personnel was very friendly

Room Tip: if in winter I would select a room facing to the hotel interior. I guess it would be warmer

The hotel is easily reachable by car, as it is on a large road, with an underground car park.

The Reception staff were very friendly, and checked us in with a minimum of fuss.

The rooms were quite reminiscent of a French château, with a very comfortable and soft bed.
There was free wifi in the room, although it was quite slow, more suitable for email than internet browsing. There is a quicker connection that can be purchased, if required.

The pool is very nice, and afforded a very relaxing swim. it appeared to be popular, as there were a few guests there relaxing and reading on the loungers.

The breakfast looked very nice, although, due to this being the fourth hotel breakfast in as many days, I can't personally vouch for the taste, as I pretty much abstained.

A very good hotel, and good value for money.
