This hotel is located within walking distance of the Therme and the city centre. The room was small and the bed really narrow, but it was freshly decorated with colours, and the furniture were also new - not the typical woren german hotel style.
Receptionists were helpful and the bagels for breakfast a nice surprise.
If you want to choose a chain hotel with a bit of character then I could recommend this hotel.
MY head office is in Aachen so I have to stay on a regular basis. Normally I stay elsewhere but due to a show-jumping event in Aachen all of my usual hotels were completely full. Also because of this, the Ibis Styles pushed up their prices to more than 130 Euro per night. At busy times like this, parking close to the hotel is almost impossible. Because of the known parking issues in Aachen I hired a VW Golf Plus which is slightly taller than standard cars but the same length as a standard golf. Unfortunately even the Golf Plus is too large to fit into the IBIS Styles parking garage. The nearest parking space I could find after a long day in the office was almost 1km away from the hotel! Hugely frustrating.
The style of the hotel is certainly aimed at the younger age-group, and resembles something designed by Nickelodeon rather than a professional hotel designer. There is no restaurant here, just a breakfast area with cheap uncomfortable Ikea-like furniture. The "lounge" area has beanbags, impossible to work in. Even the staff, many of whom are in excess of 40 years old, have to wear a brightly coloured t-shirt. It just looks wrong.
The rooms have very thin walls and are very noisy, noisy from street noise and people walking around in the hotel. The bed is extremely uncomfortable and the lighting hangs from the ceiling to just above your head where you sleep. I hit my head on the lights several times. The storage in the room is cheap and nasty with just a sheet of metal bent into a shape and painted white to allow you to hang clothes, no proper wardrobe.
Would I stay here again? NO, definitely not. I'd rather stay across the border in the Netherlands if the rest of the Aachen hotels were full. Avoid this hotel like the plague!
We stayed 3 nights in a double room.Basic hotel in a reasonably central location. Free internet and reserved parking at 9 euros a night. Really good breakfast and excellent service.Room on the small side, but very clean.Walking distance to old center(10-15 mins) Close to Spa.Nothing flash but good value
