Attracted by the one Michelin star, we wanted to have a private (for the two of us) celebration there.
It was a memorable discovery ! An excellent cuisine in a clean white and for some perhaps a rather austere but warmly illuminated interior changed this evening in a feast for mind, eyes and taste.
Ingredients of outstanding quality, very inventive ( a little bit fusion- but only a little bit) preparations, a nearly exclusive German and excellent winelist, a very attentive service, the easiness to switch between menu and à la carte, everything contributed to make the evening unforgettable. So we went back 5 weeks later, and a lot of dishes had changed in the meantime ; in many French 3 (Michelin) starred restaurants you have for 2-3 months the same 4 starters and the same 4 main dishes.
When you take the "longest" menu, you will receive 3 fish dishes, two meat dishes, a cheese or dessert preparation, with a complimentary amuse-gueule to start with, and a complimentary sweet greeting from the Chef after your last meat dish, this for the price of 96 € for thus 8 different and delicious dishes. And with the apéritif you'll get also some very nice small surprises.
A house to remember when in that region ! We will return there soon.
Speaking in terms of Michelin stars : as Belgians, my wife and I agreed that many 2 starred French restaurants don't reach the level of this restaurant, speaking in terms of culinary excellence. We wouldn't be amazed that sooner or later this second star may come. Should this happen, we hope that the Chef and his team continue on the same track and that no fundamental changes are made to what is now " a really good restaurant, where one can eat a delicious meal at an honest price".
