This hotel is very nice located next to a beautiful park. The rooms are spacious, clean and very comfortable. The breakfast is good, as is the food in the restaurant. The hotel has a private parking .

As a frequent business traveller I'm usually disappointed by chain hotels , but not on this occasion . I had a pleasant quiet room, with a comfy bed affording a good nights sleep . The staff were very friendly and helpful, my only complaint would be a mediocre evening meal. Otherwise a great business hotel.

Nice hotel, I don't really have any complaints that I could not be partially attributed to me.

I asked the restaurant to put some icepacks in the freezer for me. I confirmed "freezer", and the waitress said "yes, freezer". Well, my fault for not verifying...they had merely put them in the refrigerator. Maybe I should have looked up the translation for "freezer" or indicated below 0C or something. (I since learned that the word is Tiefkuhl, or below cool....logically, below cool (refrigerated) is frozen.

Don't believe the hotel and cabbies who will tell you the hotel is not in walking distance of the Hbf. It is within walking distance. I did it each evening, as I ventured out to the Christmas mart (and ReWe) in search of my nightly meal. It takes about 30 minutes at a moderate pace.

With luggage, perhaps you might want to use a taxi the first and last day; but between those days, walking is definitely the thing to do.

Room Tip: If you like to keep the window open (like I do, overnight, even in December), stay away from the fir...

This was my third stay at this hotel in three years. I had the opportunity to spend another four nights at the Marriott Courtyard Bochum Stadtpark in Bochum Germany mid-November .

The hotel is located in a quiet neighborhood across from a city park, off any major road and is very quiet. My room, #219 was on 2nd floor, at the end of a hallway and overlooking the park. I never once heard any noise or another guest.

My room this year was a Studio Room, probably about 50% larger than my room last year. The furnishings were similar to other Courtyard hotels that I have stayed in with a very comfortable king-size bed that had European-style electrical outlets easily accessible on the headboard. Two minor “complaints” are that there was no lamp on the desk and no clock in the room.

My room had a 30” (or so) flat screen TV and all the programming was high-definition. There were at two English language channels: Bloomberg and CNN. The TV seemed to offer an internet service and came with a keyboard as well as pay-per-view movies. I did not try the service and do not know what the costs are.

There was a mini refrigerator in the room as well as an electronic safe in the large closet. An iron and ironing board were also in the closet.

Being a Marriott Rewards Platinum member, internet service was complimentary. Connecting to Ibahn was easy, entering my room number and last name. I connected both my laptop and smartphone via Wi-Fi. The service was fast and reliable. The Speakeasy Internet Speed test showed download speed of about 8.5 mbs and upload speed of about .6 mbs.

Room 219 had a reasonable-size bathroom with a combination tub and shower. Lighting was good and there were adequate towels, a hair dryer and large magnifying mirror. A Courtyard robe and slippers were also provided as well as shampoo, conditioner, mouthwash and lotion.

The front desk associates were all really friendly and helpful. Throughout our stay, any request was handled in a very friendly and professional manner.

The hotel has a wonderful buffet breakfast each morning beginning at 6:30. The cost is $17 Euros. Each morning there were scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon, cooked mushroom, potatoes and small pancakes. On the cold side there were cold meats, salmon, cheeses, fruit and yoghurts. Three fruit juices were offered as well as a large selection of cereals and breads.

I enjoyed two dinners at the Hotel restaurant, The Green Olive. The menu is good with entrees priced from about 9 Euros for pastas to 35 Euros for a Steak. Most entrees were about 15 Euros. Soups, salads and desserts were each about 7 Euros.

There is a full service bar off the lobby and complimentary coffee was available in the lobby from about 6:00 AM each morning. There was also a “micro market” across from the front desk with beef, soft drinks, wine and snacks.

The hotel has underground enclosed parking for 5 Euros per night and there is also an outside parking lot that is complimentary.

Room Tip: While this is a very quiet hotel, rooms in the back are even quieter

I'm platinum on Marriott's rewards scheme, so I've seen a lot of Marriott hotels all over the world, but this sets the bar at a new high for me. Set in beautiful parkland (despite being in an industrial city), this elegant hotel charmed me from the moment I set foot in it after a nightmare evening journey from England. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful, the welcoming bar was happy to present me with a late night meal (excellent, too!) and a restorative beer. The bedroom was large, well cared for, immaculately clean and quiet (and heas remained so every night tis week!). Wifi service is good and reliable, and the hotel reataurant is great. It's a little bit away from the restaurants and nightlife of the city centre (but walking distance from a great little Italian trattoria!), and there is no pool or spa, but the positives well outweigh these slight disadvantages.

This is one of many nice hotels in small town Germany. The location in Bochum is unlikely to attract many passing tourists so mostly business customers but nevertheless situation in a nivce spot about 5 minutes by taxi from the main station.

Hotel was probably built in the 80's / 90's so a little bit dated but nevertheless everything is clean and the rooms are a decent size.

The hotel has a small fitness room with quite modern equipment and of course like most other hotels in Germany, was completely empty! Or at least it was when I was there - but it's quite rare to find other guests working out - must just be a German thing.

Staff were very friendly right from the reception through to the dining room and it seems quite genuine rather than the forced corportate coutesy so prevalent in many big city hotels. I was paying a corporate rate of €89 so seemed quite good value although no free internet which is beginning to seem a bit old-fashioned.

So overall good experience and I would stay here again without hesitation.

A quiet hotel, located in the "stadpark" of Bochum. It has a underground carpark for free!!! Very friendly employees. The breakfast was good, okay. A little walk to the musical "Starlight Express". I will stay here again at my next visit to Bochum.
