My business friends and I chose this hotel due to the fantastic location and reasonably priced. The room is clean and tidy. Breakfast was a pleasant surprise with all necessary selection and cozy ambiance. Internet is easily available in the room and at the lobby and breakfast area. The staff is friendly and responsive to our demands. The surrounding area is where the Cathedral and central train station is located. Walking distance to many shops and restaurants. Generally, value for money!!

Was in Cologne the first time in February for holidays.
Chosen Dom Hotel Am Romerbrunnen at Hotels.com due to its location to the train station, the famous cathedral and shopping area.

I am very surprised to have this kind of location paying a very reasonable price for the room.
The breakfast had a wide spread of variety and good enough for a nutritious breakfast to last the day in the cold.

The staff were helpful, answering questions for directions and accommodating in requests being made.

Room was perfect for a tourist like me whom needs a place to rest and sleep comfortably after a day's of sight seeing and walking. Room's space was spacious enough for 2 and with lots of shopping bags.
Despite there wasn't any water boiling facilities or fruits like the 5 stars hotels, it was made up by having it at the cafe, at the check in/out area. I was being served with coffee by ordering it with the hotel staff. Fruits were displayed nicely at a stand for the hotel guests.

The hotel's location wise was perfect.
To the famous cathedral, train station, shopping area, restaurants and bars were all within 10 minutes of walking. Despite the hotel near proximity to the crowed area, its located in a peaceful street.

Overall experience in the hotel for 3 days perfect. Service was really like 5 stars hotel.
Location of the hotel was the best.
Room rates are really not expensive considering its in a city and location.

Will definitely go back to the same hotel for my next trip to Cologne.

We planned our trip to Cologne for the Christmas markets a few months in advance and found this hotel at a great price. (That price skyrocketed as the dates grew closer however.) We arrived by train and made the short walk over to the hotel. The location was also just a short walk to the Christmas market at the Cathedral and then the other markets were a short walk from there. Check in was easy, although we were unassisted to carry our bags up the stairs to our room. The room was big enough and comfortable enough, but it was very cold. We're not sure if the heaters were broken or if windows had been left open recently? In any case, there were some space heaters nearby that we could use and they warmed it up nicely. The bathroom wasn't the most ergonomic, but for one night it sufficed. Just be prepared to stand upright in the cramped shower and use the sink while standing in the doorway. In the morning we had a nice free breakfast in their charming dining room. It was a good place for our trip.

Further to my Fiancees review I would just like to let people know that the following day we had a much improved experience at this hotel. Breakfast was tasty with all the necessities. We had a lovely day and evening at the Christmas Markets, we recommend the Altermarkt, more traditional and the Gulaschsuppe there was spot on! We popped into the hotel bar and cautiously brought up our unpleasent welcome the day before with the manageress on duty and she was most concerned about it and insisted on giving us complimentary drinks and a welcome tray of drinks and treats to cheer us up. We would stay at this hotel again as it was ideally located and once we found an extra radiator in our room it was nice and snug and perfectly adequate for a short stay. It is just a shame that one person could have spoilt our whole trip and we do wonder if other visitors and even the other staff have had to endure Christinas poor attitude or if she just took a disliking to us?!

Well its not often, as you can see from my previous reviews, that i ever feel the overriding need to add a review whilst still at the location. I am currently adding this review whilst shivering under the thin duvet supplied in the ice cold room we have. For starters i guess we should be pleased we have a room with the toilet 'en suite' contrary to many reviews on here! But we have just suffered two bouts of cultural discrimination in a short period of time from one employee of this hotel!! Upon arrival she was off hand and abrupt and made us feel distinctly unwelcome. She had two german 'customers'in her bar at the time. Less than 1/2 hour later we popped into the bar 'henrys' to grab a quick drink before heading out and were told by same female 'im too busy, ive closed the bar right now'. We returned 3-4 hours later for a swift shot of schnapps before bed and again was approached with aggression, disdain and denial and when we walked away a german male was served straight after us. We never judge people and dont expect people to do that to us. We've met nice people in Cologne already but def not at this hotel! Can't wait to see the manager tomorrow!!! TBC.........

We stayed two comfortable nights in this lovely boutique hotel. It was rated three star so I was a but skeptical but thought the location would make up for it. Well, our entire stay was fabulous and much more on par with a four star establishment. We were given an upgraded apartment on the opposite side of the street which was beautiful and comfortable. Parking garage was nearby and we could park for a short time in front of the hotel to unload bags. The bar was cozy with a nice, quiet atmosphere. Breakfast was good but not what I was expecting based on the reviews. If breakfast is included with your room then it's a great deal but I wouldn't pay €14 for it. Location was excellent!!! Easy walk to many major attractions especially the Dom and the secret police HQ museum. I would definitely recommend it and stay there again.

Room Tip: The apartments across the street are the best. Also, make sure to sit in the cozy bar and enjoy a ni...

I'm not sure if our rooms were the exception, but they certainly didn't look like the photos we were expecting. The hotel's main redeeming factor is it's excellent location - the rooms are certainly looking rather tired and the hotel is generally well worn. Carpets in bedroom need to be replaced and works were underway to upgrade the staircase when we were there (lots of banging in the morning). Be prepared for some noise - we could hear our neighbours comings and goings, toilets flushing and noisy drains. The rooms were clean though and service, for the most part, was good. Get to breakfast early though, as bacon and eggs run out quickly. I certainly, didn't think the breakfast was anything to rave about - good variety, but average quality. Also, our friend's and our room both had separate toilets across the hall. This wasn't a major issue for us but certainly not ideal (not all rooms have this) and particularly annoying as we weren't told about this when booking.
