“Great Weekend Getaway”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 October 2013

We looked on Tripadvisor and found this hotel based on the price range we were looking for. Our GPS in the car found it very easily and we arrived around 8pm on a Saturday. There is some parking spaces out front, which were all taken, but we found one right around the first corner. The parking rules/ cost is 1 EUR for 20 minutes between the hours of 9am - 9pm, and it is free on Sunday. We tried putting money into the meter for the one more hour before it was free, but the meter was broken. The lady at the front desk was nice enough to even write us a note to put in the car just in case, but we ended up having no problems. We did hear that it was about 14 EUR to use the hotel's parking garage, but we lucked out finding an outside spot. Our check-in was smooth and seamless, very friendly lady at the front desk...she was extremely helpful. I had already read about the somewhat nude pictures when you step out of the elevator, so that is no big deal. Our room was very clean and had a hair dryer, mini fridge, and Nespresso machine inside. To turn on the lights, there's a slot inside the door you put your room key in to turn them on. There were a lot of channels available on the tv, a few in English. We walked to the Dom Cathedral which only took us about 10 minutes, very easy walk to do, so if you're worried about location, it
was great. There were plenty of large towels and hand towels, so we did ask for some washcloths, which they brought up to the room for us. The bed mattresses were a bit hard, I ended up waking up in the night and putting the duvet under me to soften it a little. Our window was facing the construction area, but at night was quiet. Because of the wind the next morning, we could hear the plastic tarps rattling out there. But we had the breakfast buffet which was amazing. They had hot items like eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, plus a lot of fruit, breads, juices, tea, jams, etc. The other nice thing was they do a late riser breakfast that stays open until noon on Sat and Sun. Even though there were a few negatives, the positives were all so nice, it still gets five stars here. Would definitely come here again!

I was on a business trip in Cologne, and I was staying in this hotel for a few days.
Hotel is very good, little bit pricey but very decent for that money.
Rooms are very spacious and clean.
Toillet is clean and very nice.
Location is PERFECT!
Staff was very fast, however, since I went there on summer, it was very warm in a hotel.
They didn't want to turn air condition in restaurant ON even when I clearly asked for it.
(probably hotel policy)
It is very difficult to have a breakfast while sweating.
Anyway, do not want to give a bad review for a good hotel,
only minus was that air condition. (air condition in room was more then fine)

Really an amazing hotel and excellent breakfast .. 7 min walk or less from station and really good service. I would give it 5 if only it was closer to the station as we had a baby with several suite cases, carrying this all the way was more than what expected. Also there was construction site in front of hotel but we were lucky we stayed during weekend and no noise was noticed.

We stayed for two nights in Hotel Santo. Location was nearly perfect, it is in a safe environment with less than 10 minutes distance to main train station (hauptbahnof) or cathedral, by foot.
Hotel was quite clean, breakfast was also very good, including different tastes. Room was new and has a nice design. We needed a baby cot and it was ready before we got in the room and the room had still enough space despite the baby cot.
Personnel was also quite positive and helpful. We had no problems at all during our stay with our baby.

This hotel was a bit awkward to find, if only because we don't know Cologne well at all and we weren't sure where the hotel's garage was. First impressions of the hotel were very good. Modern look, pleasant and helpful staff and a very secure garage once we got checked in. The corridors were compact, and the rooms weren't massive but they were more than enough for a couple of nights and were entirely comfortable. There was a Nespresso machine that had a couple of pods with it (additional pods were available for a charge...) The bathroom was really nice and modern with good facilities. It's close to an U-Bahn Station, and a large Rewe supermarket, as well as local restaurants, bars and shops. On returning to the hotel after dinner we had a drink in the bar which was OK - nice and quiet. As others have mentioned, the air conditioning wasn't working, and it did make for quite a warm night, particularly as there was a lot of building work going on across the road from the hotel so we didn't really want to open the window as we would be woken by the noise in the morning. Also, the bed was a little hard for my tastes, so as a result, the sleep quality wasn't quite what it could have been.
Breakfast was excellent, and the pancakes were a nice touch. There was free wifi throughout the hotel which worked excellently. All in all, despite the aircon, I would recommend this hotel and we would stay there again when in Cologne.

Hotel definitely was up to today's standards. I particularly liked the late weekend breakfast (until noon). I didn't like the bed (too hard), but otherwise good value for money. The location was perfect for us, as we drove and the hotel is not right in the tourist area and therefore easy to reach, but there is really nothing much to see within 15 minutes walk.

I stayed in this quiet hotel on business for three nights. It is within a ten minute stroll of the central railway station but otherwise feels a bit isolated.

The hotel is clean and comfortable for a business trip. The reception staff are very helpful and friendly. The wifi works everywhere and is free. My room had a shower only [I like a bath!] - but I did not ask if rooms with bath are available.

I had lost my luggage and was glad that I had bought toothpaste and toothbrush and a hairbrush a the airport since none of these was provided.

But the hotel is fit for purpose and I would stay there again.

The only incongruity is in the large photographs set by the lifts. On the ground floor is a topless lady who seems to be wearing a surgical collar and lead - very off-putting. On my floor, you emerged from the lift to a naked, rather bony, lady holding her hands strategically but her pubic hair still on view. Also very off-putting.

So if you want modest business comfort at a good price with friendly and helpful staff, and don't mind naked women on the walls, this is the hotel for you!
