“Small rooms but comfy”
Reviewed 28 September 2013

Good points :
Near the shops , Main Station and Cathedral
Comfy bed , nice bathroom but small bedroom .. My room was at the end of the corridor and was quiet.
The staff were friendly

Bad points:
€10 per day for wifi is far far too expensive
€8 for breakfast was ok but dont expect the bacon eggs etc to be hot

The location is fantastic, in the heart of old town next to the Dom, walking distance from the train station. The staff was very professional and helpful. The hotel provided a good breakfast and the bar was a good place to re-group, rest and plan the rest of the day. The latter part of the trip was pleasure and I switched rooms (single to a double) waiting for my wife to arrive. Room 506 is the best room in the hotel (thank you Bianca) . It's a large room on the corner facing the river. However, the balcony also faced the Dom. Great views! As someone said in an earlier review, weekday rates are pretty reasonable but goes up substantially on weekends (plus we were there during CSD). In this case it was worth it. The single room was very small and cramped but the double room was basically a suite (see pics). I'd like to thank the staff for being so friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Room 506!! A nice suite with great views!

You can't beat the location, you roll out into the city!! Week day prices are reasonable but weekend prices are high as expected so you get your money's worth during the week. You have to pay for wifi or use the computer in the reception area. We had two twin rooms; one was big and airy the other small and cramped.

Some staff are nice and others abrupt. We needed to switch rooms for four people to one room for three and they were not accommodating with letting us keep our room till the other one was ready. I'm a seasoned traveler and it made it feel like a budget hotel. Beds are average, I would not say there were comfortable or uncomfortable.

Pros:
Clean
Location
Week day price
Weekend check out at 12pm
Had a fridge

Cons:
No toiletries - just one soap does all but who wants to wash their hair with the same cheap soap to wash your hands?! Toiletries can make your life easier when you're travelling for a while.
Paid wifi at €3/hour was EXTREMELY sloooow so not worth it.
No one had advised us that weekend check out was at 12 and weekday check out was at 11am so we had a rude phone call ushering us out. Would have been nice to have been told.
For the price we paid on the weekend it did not include breakfast.
The pull out bed was extremely uncomfortable.

Well equipped hotel with excellent rooms, modern and clean, in the city centre with public parking garages in nearby. Friendly staff. And a descent breakfast for only € 8,-!
Location is the best you van have when visiting Cologne's City Centre. Dom and Ludwig Museum within 5 minute walk. Starbucks across the street and the shops just around the corner. Several café's and bars with terraces within 3 minute walk.
Nice and easy place to stay.

The hotel itself was quite a decent reasonably priced hotel, the reception staff were quite pleasant and helpful. I stayed in a single room which was well equipped with a safe and fridge, even if it was a bit on the small side, and had seriously awful pillows. I did not have the breakfast so cannot comment on that, we used to go to one on several cafes nearby. What makes this good place to stay is the location, literally 5mins from the Cathedral and the main train station, (a 15min train ride to the airport). It is also within a short walking distance on the many beer halls and cafes in Cologne, so all in all a decent place to stay but don't expect to much luxury.

Room Tip: A room at the back is quieter

Really neat, cozy place in great condition and with helpful personal! Highly recommend trying to get a room under the roof - you'll love it! The elevator goes only to the 4-th floor but it's worth to take an extra effort and drag your suitcases to the last 5-th floor to enjoy a great view!
