After reading some negative reviews on Tripadvisor we were a bit anxious, but for the weekend before Christmas we got a very good deal on lastminute.de (and we didn't have a lot of choice). So for about 85 euro's per night for 2 persons) we took the change, and it was worth it. Clean, normal sized, modern in a former monistary. The only problem was the head of the shower, which dropped constantly. And the room was a bit warm after closing the window (opening the window gave some street noise), but other than that the rooms were very quiet. Breakfast was good, with enough choice. It's just a few minutes walk to the border of the centre.it was a good start for the Christmas markets.

I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights and was given the most small room I have stayed in for 20 years.
Not very comfy furnishings either. Quie basic really but not reflected in the pricey rate. Breakfast was edible. Hot breakfast really poor.
Receptionist quite sullen. Only good aspect of hotel was location for my business trip.
A tip for the manager change the austere decor

The hotel is located in a nice part of Cologne just outside the touristic area and adjacent to an area with lots of bars and restaurant.
The modern rooms are not big, sparsely but sufficiently decorated, nice wooden floor, free wifi, tv and bluetooth speakerset. Bewrae, if you like the rooms of the big hotel chains, you'll probably be disappointed.
Breakfast is good
Very friendly service.

Room Tip: If you like a quiet room, please ask for a room at the back of the hotel

The Hopper Hotel is found just outside the main area, its a short walk down to the river, We arrived to be told they had a small double for 165 euro which we took, not realising the word small was really small, the television is on a unit which rolls on a wheel so to get into the bed you have to roll the television to the wall, i assume this is called arty, we also could not understand why you had to pay 13 euro to park in the hotel car park! another rip off. We were in the room above the arch, so had cars coming in and out and suitcases on the cobbled road. Also on arrival, we had driven a long way thought it would be nice to have a drink (not alcoholic) so seeing the outside tables asked the waitresses for 2 cokes we were told they were closed at 2 this was 5 mins passed 2, a little mean we thought, anyway your loss as we didn't use your facilities throughout our stay

This hotel is in a great location, only a short walk to major sights in Cologne. The room itself was clean but very basic. My husband and I had a double bed that for some unknown reason only had one single blanket that didn't cover us both and one single pillow. Why one pillow, I have no idea. I had to go down to reception to ask for another one. The breakfast room and buffet made up for this, it was in an excellent room with a nice coffee machine.

This hotel promises much more than it delivers. I checked out after the first night and went to the nearby Barcelo which was half the price and twice the service.

The picture shown on website is not indicative of the size of many rooms - when this was raised with the receptionist I was told it was just a picture and I should not expect my room to look like it.

The room furnishing was very basic - a small sloping desk...why sloping? And a couple of plastic chairs. The wardrobe was a couple of open hanging shelves in the entrance. Tiny TV bolted to an IKEA type cupboard and the bed made up the rest. The room safe was too small even for a small laptop or SLR camera - and there was no security/privacy lock inside the door.

The hotel is not air-conditioned. If your room is on the front of the hotel the decision is between a stuffy room or a noisy one. There is a LOT of street noise all night long.

The tiny gym in the basement had one weird timber framed piece of equipment - not very functional.

This Hopper et cetera has pretensions to hip design - but falls well short. Instead it offers poorly furnished noisy bland rooms at an inflated price. There are other better value places in this fun part of Cologne.

Room Tip: If you must stay here -insist on a room away from the road. If you have a choice - try the Barcelo a...

Located in the belgian neighbourhood with a lot of hip shops, bars and cafes nothing is to mention about that. The breakfast area in the old building is nice and you like to hang out there for an extended breakfast.

There is no bar in the hotel so if you like to take a drink at night, stock up your minibar or head out into the city.

The rooms towards the street side seem a little nicer/cosyier than the ones facing the backyard. Spacious but pretty basic (i was missing a waterkettle and some tea and coffee). The bathroom is very small compared to the rest of the room and it is imossible to get in there with 2 persons at the same time.
All in all a good experience but if have stayed in cologne before and got more for my money. Guess it`s the location you pay the most for.

Room Tip: The rooms towards the street side seem a little nicer/cosyier than the ones facing the backyard.
