This place was awesome! A little off the beaten tourist on Barbarossaplatz, which was a welcome respite from all the buzz on the shopping streets. It's a little restaurant that is very rustic and Russian (appropriately).
Started off the meal with a fantastic bottle of Sauvignon Blanc, and it was very reasonably priced.
All the food we had was fantastic! And I'd never had Russian food before.
-Pelmenyi: meat dumplings served in a thin broth with sour cream on the side
-Chicken Kiev: Fried breaded chicken leg, served with veggies and potatoes
-Beef stroganoff: Nothing like what we Americans think of as stroganoff. Beef cooked in a thick orange (color, not flavor) sauce with potato-carrot cakes
-Vegetarian dumplings made from mashed potatoes, and mushrooms, looked like pierogi
-For dessert, little pastries of apples and dough, shaped into roses and flavored with cinnamon.
In short, THIS PLACE IS AWESOME, YOU SHOULD GO THERE!
Also, there's a Cuban cocktail bar right next door if you want your night to go in a fun direction afterwards ;)
