“Decent hotel, but lots of construction nearby”
Reviewed 23 April 2013

Not noisy, but lots of construction going on nearby. Located near the train station (you can walk through the train station to the otherside to get to the church). Executive lounge had do-it-yourself cocktails, beer and wine. The food was quite good, although a little more limited than the other Marriott's we've been to. The hotel restaurant - Fou - is quite good. French onion soup is not the best, but their steak tartare or lamb dishes were quite good. Do like the executive lounge has two roof top terraces - small, but nice to sit outside when the weather is nice.

The room we stayed in - the bed was sagging in the middle. Made for a sore back the next day.

Stayed here fo 2 nights over the Easter weekend. The hotel is very well situated in a quiet road only five minues from the railway station, Cathedral and some museums. The staff were most welcoming and helpful. The room was quiet and well appointed with a large, very comfortable bed, an armchair and also plenty of decent lighting. The bathroom was stylish with a nice walk-in shower. I would recommend booking a rate which includes breakfast as it is very expensive if it has to be added on. However, it is a good breakfast with plenty of choice, both hot and cold and set us up for the day. All in all a very good hotel which I would recommend.

Cologne is a large city with many lodging choices. One of the best choices you can make while in Cologne is the Marriott. With its close proximity to the train station, the Dom, and countless restaurants, you will be in the middle of it all at this property.

The rooms are well appointed and good szed as European hotels go, and the staff was extremely courteous and helpful. The exercise facilities were also first class and very clean. I just have no negatives when it comes to the Cologne Marriott.

I did room service my first night there. The food was excellent . . flavor, presentation, service . . again, no complaints.

Needless to say, I would stay there again. It was a very American experience in a large German city!

Arrived by car in a freezing day in late March 2013 and can't found the parking. Friendly staff told that there was electricity problem and no parking or check-in could be arranged but they can keep my luggage and arrange valet parking. Good service. The electricity problem however was solve after about 10 mins and I can successfully checked in and walked to the Cathedral within a few mins.

The breakfast is great; I thought I was staying in a Bangkok hotel with many different selections of bread, ham and fruits.

Room Tip: No particular preference.

I, along with two of my colleagues, stayed here for four nights a few weeks ago. You cannot beat the location if you are taking the train into Cologne. It is literally a five minute walk. I appreciate other reviews indicating which exit to use from the train station. The curry wurst stall was a good landmark! We were able to check in when we arrived (2:30 p.m.) and although I'm a platinum member I was not put on the executive floor since all they had left were smoking rooms. That was odd - they couldn't guarantee that people smoked in them or not, and they do have an entire floor designated for smoking. Europe, I guess. The room was spacious, and mostly clean (a few things on the floor when I arrived that never moved) and the big windows were easily opened for fresh air. I didn't have any problems with the wireless connection or with anything else in the room. The little fridge came in handy as I brought water and soda from the lounge back to the room. The executive lounge was very nice - well stocked and of a good size. I used it for breakfast a couple of times and found the fruit to be fresh - didn't sample the plethora of bakery items although I was seriously tempted. In the evenings all I tried were some of the cookies they had in these neat little dispensers - the peanut butter ones were outstanding. The fitness center was excellent - about 4 each treadmills and ellipticals and one stationary bike. Odd that they only had large (bath) towels and no hand towels, but it worked. They also had robes since there was a sauna - so I ended up taking one of those to my room. Check out was a breeze. Of particular note was "The International" publication that they provided each day - it was put together nicely and allows guests to see a snapshot of local and world events. My colleague, in particular, was a fan of this. Everyone enjoyed their stay, and my impression was that their rooms were just as nice. Next time I travel to Germany I will definitely stay here if I am lucky enough to get back to Cologne. Well done Marriott!

It was a short walk from the train station. There are plenty of hotels in the area, but this hotel was fairly large and very clean. I liked it a lot because it was away from the noise and bell ringing of the Dom, but close enough to see the main sites. The elevators were also large enough for suitcase and quick (as in you didn't have to stand too long and wait or squish in with your bags - def happens in Europe!)

PROS: clean, easy access from main station, comfortable bed, friendly staff

CONS: pay for wifi, downstairs business center was also pay for wifi, safe hotel area, bathroom shower small
