Casual local pub atmosphere that is very affordable. Limited menu of local German food, however the Schweine,Kotelett (Pork Chop) is huge and tasty. They only serve Koln Gaffel beer like most restaurants in Cologne.

We walked here after touring Cologne and the famous cathedral.. It's on the so-called "wrong side" of the Rhine River which was an added plus as there weren't droves of tourists taking up space... The place opened for dinner 4:30p (on the Saturday we went) and it was packed wall-to-wall by 5pm (mostly full of locals so you KNOW it must be good)... My understanding is that people line up to eat at this spot and now I know why!! We went downstairs to the rustic/cellar dining room and were told there was an hour wait... We drank a couple of beers sitting on the steps and to our surprise we were seated after only 20 minutes (at a table with a small party of 3 who were already eating)... This seating arrangement was different for me as a grumpy American from New York City but in the end it was great as the people we sat with were very cordial and inviting.. The beers were non-stop and good (and felt "light" to allow room for the food)... We didn't see one glass of water being poured but we did see the occasional Coke being served (so definitely bring your beer belly). We got the rye bread and cheese (Gouda) as an appetizer which was really good.. And then came the pork... The chop or "cutlet" was the largest I've ever seen and quite good. The sautéed onions on top gave it great flavor and the potato salad was really flavorful too.. The waitstaff was amazing as they didn't miss a beat to keep every glass filled.. When the bill came we were shocked that all this food and drinks only tallied up to 25€.. Anyway I could go on and on about this place but you've got to experience Lommerzheim!!!

If the statt appear to be rude or not acknowledging your - that is your way of seeing it. The are very busy serving everyone and also their way of approaching you, making jokes and being down to earth is simply the way how people from Köln talk and act. I have come here several times before, this time with a larger group and we were all 100% satisfied. The beer keeps coming (its also one of the few Kölsch that I, a Pilsener drinker, quite enjoy) and the food is simply outstanding. Sausage or Schweinebraten, it is the best tender meat you ll have had in a while. Next time I am in Cologne, I ll be back again.

Very cultural pub with traditional Germany food. We had German Sausage and pork joint, it came with a massive portion.

The beer is unlimited re-filled which is even better.

Great place to go.

You will need to be there early to avoid long waiting time

Having been highly recommended to visit this place by a good friend and read all the reviews we were sadly disappointed. Went last Tuesday night and the place was closed. We were not sure if closed down or just closed for the night. We didn't give up and tried again the next night. The bar was open with all tables occupied - some eating and some not. Atmosphere? We stood next to what appeared to be the bar but was a metal sink full of water to rinse the beer glasses. Other areas appeared closed. After 10mins we gave up and left. The waitress/barmaid never once acknowledged our presence or attempted to serve us. Not the buzzing cult bar that we had been led to believe existed. I guess we just hit an off night. Went down the road and had a great night with a lovely friendly waitress and great food.
