“1 night stay for football”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 November 2013

Great hotel, lovely interior with chandellairs, marble stairs, large aquariums.
The hotel has a good bar too.
Room was very large and I had only booked a single en-suite.
The breakfast was 9.50 euros but the only hot food was scrambled eggs and boiled eggs.
That is my only criticism of the hotel,
Plenty of bars, restaurants, shops close by.
Main train station 5 min walk and metro 1 min away.
Would stay here again.

Stayed here for a football trip with friends, This hotel was spot on and only paid £150 a room for 4 nights, great location, only 2 mins walk across the road to the Main Street with all the shops on,

Would be more than happy to stay here again anytime I came back to Dortmund

Some reviewers have this right- Looks great when you enter the lobby and you think that this is going to be a great hotel. Well, as they say, do not judge a book by its cover. The hotel is literally covered in this tasteless brownish marble that gives the place an ominous, dreary feeling. Maybe in the beginning this hotel was exceptional, but now it seems it longs for those days. The rooms do not have hand washcloths, no iron, water pressure and hot water are amazing. If you put the shower on full, you will get blasted out of the tub. I am surprised the glass surround can hold up to the force! DO NOT get a room that faces the street- the noise will keep you up all night, especially if you open the window for cool air. A dilemma - cool the room off and not sleep or catch some sleep in a hot room. (I stayed in October and the weather was 62 degrees F). The continental breakfast was OK, but I felt it was not worth the 9.50 euros. Parking is a challenge- if you have a large vehicle- forget it. You need to go down a one lane steep ramp and there are concrete columns to negotiate and the parking spaces are small even by European standards. Our little mercedes stuck out by a meter and spanned the parking space. If you are overweight, good luck getting out of the vehicle! Parking is 16 euro a night (ouch!)

For the money- not worth it. There was a soccer (Football) game that weekend so everything was booked except this hotel- that alone shoudl tell you something. It is right across from the shopping area- about the only advantage of this hotel. Please consider some where else and save some money.

Room Tip: Away from the street

Stayed for a weekend with my partner this is a really nice hotel, friendly staff , room was a bit small but very clean with a good size bathroom, breakfast was ok, not the best but enough to get by on. A good location with a short walk to the town centre, if you enjoy shopping then Dortmund really is for you, pepperkorn restaurant is attached to the hotel and serves really good meals, all in all a good hotel.

Walked in the lobby and the first impression is that this is a great hotel. That's where the good news ends! We proceeded to be charged €1,300 for 4 nights stay and needed to pay at registration. It felt like they thought we might run out in the middle of the night in spite of having our visa for security. Got to our room and discovered that the two beds we requested were 1 queen and what amounted to be one grade better than a cot - for €1,300.
We called the front desk because there was no iron in our room and were advised we had to iron our shirts downstairs as the iron could not be taken to the rooms for fire safety issues. The ironing room was slightly larger than a broom closet.
Later in the week we asked the front desk to make a reservation on our behalf and were told we had to call ourselves. I guess the two people not doing anything at the front desk were just too busy to help. Nope - hotel policy!
I have traveled 25+ trips a year for two decades all around the world. This is truly the worst experience yet. And believe me, I've had a few bad experiences.
BTW - enjoy the breakfast..... It wasn't bad and at €10 nicely priced.

Room Tip: Pick another hotel!
