“Okay but nothing to shout about”
Reviewed 23 November 2011

My husband stayed in the same hotel a few years ago and recommended it, I think because it was cheap and had a 24hr bar! This time we had our 4-month old baby with us and stayed there for 5 nights.

Parking is free, and a room for 2+1 was very good value at 63 euros a night. Room is air-conditioned. Breakfast was 10 euros extra per person per day, which I didn't take because I was there for a course and never had enough time in the morning to eat there. There was a supermarket and bakery downstairs which opened very early though. There's free computer and printer access, with free internet connection in the lobby which I thought was quite cool. Location-wise it's a short 15min walk away to the centre of town, with easy access to supermarkets and restaurants.

The room was small, with a low double bed and a pullout single. Lots of nice thick rectangular pillows, not like most German hotels with those big flat square ones that do nothing for head support. Comfortable duvet too.The bathroom was functional with a shower, you have to step up a level to get into the bathroom though. Shower pressure ok. Towels a bit frayed round the edges. Nice liquid soap dispenser on the wall. We even got a free razor from Gillette. But other than that no other toiletries available.

Weak points: Carpet sticky and threadbare. Small closet with hanging space. Not much space for a Samsonite suitcase and stroller. No fridge/minibar.

All in all, I thought it was okay for the price and comfort. Free parking was a nice bonus. But if I'm in Dortmund again I'll probably try for another hotel.

I stayed in the hotel for three nights last week, and for honesty it doesn't look like a hotel as regular hotels services is available starting from the poor breakfast to the very small room and bathroom , there is no fridge in the room only German channels on TV which is the smallest TV I have ever seen.

Simply good value for money maybe but I don't recommend it sorry

Located not far from the center. I always stay in this hotel while I am in Dortmund, because it is convinient, good value for money and I can drink a tasty German beer in the lobby bar even at 4 o'clock in the morning.

The hotel was fine. Only two stops from the city centre, service fine, staff fine but I got a smokers room which I didn't enjoy as it smelled horrible and the carpet seemed dirty. However, I didn't complain or ask to move because I was too tired so that's my problem.

Staff at reception not really interested in problems or customers; no apology for not replying to my e-mail, and no answer to it still; staff debited my debit card on first day when accor conditions state will only be debited on last day and didn't allow me to pay in Euros (like last time).

I paid about £85 for two nights without breakfast. Standard IBIS rooms, comfortable, with large restaurant and bar area. The staff were friendly and chatty. The city centre is located 2km north, the football stadium and Westfalen Park area are close by to the south.

A trip up the Tower in Westfalen Park is worth doing, to get a good view of the spectacular Signal Iduna stadium (home of Borussia Dortmund) and the surrounding scenery. There are some good museums in the city too.

We stayed here for one night in May 2011. The hotel is in a very quiet location and benefits from its own private under cover parking. The service was very efficient but as one reviewer has already noted our credit card was debited for the price of the stay in GBP and not Euros. Needless to say the exchange rate we received was not good.
Rooms were very quiet and clean, breakfast was the Ibis norm, very good if a little pricey. All in all a good stay and to top it off there is a petrol station just down the road with very cheap fuel!
