For EUR 5 per person (reductions for children) a trip up the Rhine Tower affords fantastic views over the whole of the metropolitan area with views on a clear day to Cologne and the Black Mountains to the south and north to Duisburg and beyond.
Whislt it may not be as tall as some other world towers if you are coming to Dusseldforf it provides a great value introduction to some of the sights you should see.
From what we could see its open pretty much every day apart from Carnival and Christmas Day from 10am to midnight and easy to get to via trams 704, 709 and 719.
Alternatively we just walked south along the river bank from the old town, took in the sights from the tower and then went an explored the Media/harbour area with its great Frank Gerhy architecture and sat in the sun enjoying a drink. A lovely way to spend an afternoon!
