“Plane Spotters Paradise”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 June 2014

If you are a plane spotter, then this is the place for you. Open from 0900 to 2000 each day, with a €2.20 per adult, per day, entry fee (you can come & go as you please), it's good value for money.

With the two parallel runways right in front of you, you will see all arrivals & departures. There are seats strategically placed around the terrace, although there is no shade or cover in the event of inclement weather (so take an umberella & coat if things do not look too good. Equally, sun screen is a must, as the direct sun & win will burn - from personal experience!). If you want to see what is due to arrive & depart that day, may I suggest you look at dusinfo.net which gives most of that day's departures & arrivals, & is a great help to the enthusiast.

A kiosk selling cold drinks, ice creams & sausages, opens from around 1100 to around 1630, but you can take your own with you, if you wish.

Toilets are available on the terrace at all times.

Until recently, you could also use the facility at the train station, but due to cut backs & costs, this has been closed.

“Just see airplanes”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 June 2014

I was wondering why the charge you for this. The only thing to see are the landing and starting airplanes. Poor service. I put 1 € in the binoculars - and it was not working. I tolöd that the man at the entrance. The only answer was "mmhhh, not possible".

“Dusseldorf Airport terraces.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 September 2013

I have been coming here for many years, and the viewing has always been excellent. There is a newer terrace by the runway threshold accessible by monorail witha coffee bar downstairs, and aircraft land or take off right in front of you.BAA owned airports in UK could learn something here.
Summers are busier than winters, especially at weekends.
