“A good place to end our trip”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 August 2012

We stayed at the Ambassador Hotel for two nights before our departure back to the USA. We were looking for a place that was within walking distance of the train station as well as close to the Old Town part of Dusseldorf. This hotel fit the bill. The walk from the train station was less than 5 minutes. I had asked for a quiet room for 3 adults and was given a room on the fifth floor. It was warm and we had the windows open. The tram noise did not really bother any of us and the temperature was fine with the fan. The third bed was a convertible chair bed which our daughter said was reasonably comfortable. Breakfast was excellent with a buffet of both hot and cold items including fresh fruits, warm pastries, cold cuts, cheeses and eggs. When we had to leave very early (5:30) on the second day , the desk clerk had the coffee made and some fresh croissants. All the staff was helpful and we were very satisfied with our stay. We would stay here again.

Had a great couple of days here the young chap on reception called Boguslaw was super helpful and friendly always check if we were ok, room was comfortable was noisy but you are in a city we had a fan so were ok with the room being so warm. Breakfast is great lots choose from my only tip for this hotel would be maybe invest in air conditioning and maybe some modern tv's. If you want convenience for city then stay here

- no a/c, you need to keep the window open in the summer time
- very loud noise from outside, expecially the trams make terrible noise
- our window was to the side walk, and during the weekend there were many people making noise
- really tiny room.
- it is about 30 minutes walk to the centrum / old town
- nice breakfast
- excellent pillows
- free wifi, but very slow connection
- we never got a proper invoice / receipt, not even though I send e-mail to hotel after our stay
- not worth three stars or what we are learned to expect from Best Western brand

Room Tip: Try to get a room facing to the back yard, might be less noisy

Friendly an attentive staff, ok buffet breakfast, very convenient if arriving by train, if arriving by car and there is no parking inside the hotel it is not easy to find an spot close by; at night the area may not be the nicest one if alone but it is ok if in a group or at least two people. Since the hotel is located next to the station the advantage is that stores inside are open longer hours than in the center. From the hotel you can walk to the center (ca.30min) or take the underground (5min?) or drive (though not advisable b/c parking may not be available). Agree with previous review, an extra bed is not that, it is a twin sofa bed (or smaller!) and not precise the most comfortable one. Rooms are small as well. Big issues for me: no A/C, no wifi (I think that cable connection was available, not sure). There was a fan in the closet though. Overall, for the price I think it was a good deal.

Just five minutes from Hauptbahnhof (Central Railway Station). The room was very comfortable for a 3-star hotel. Everything renovated, in working condition, bathroom spacious, with 2 sinks for the comfort of a couple. Breakfast is fair. The daily rate for weekends is even attractive. It is higher for workdays. The only snag is the reception's staff quality. Especially, the evening-night staff seem to be untrained and we had problems with forward reservations and other communication problems which show rather low professionalism.

Location of hotel is really good, 5 minute walk from Central Station. Easy to get to the international airport. We booked for two nights and the prices were extremely good, this hotel is excellent for a 3 star hotel! Rooms were good size, bed was really comfortable. No coffee, tea or kettle in room, but they happily supply this if asked. Staff at this hotel were really helpful. We arrived after a 30 hour trip at 8am in the morning, the receptionist had a spare room and they offered this to us which was a lifesaver. Buffet breakfast was included in the cost of the room, good variety and everyone would find something that suited them. Wireless internet, no problems and was fast and free. Nothing was too much trouble, I would definitely go back to this hotel.

Room Tip: We had a first floor room in the front of the hotel. If you are a light sleeper you might find this...

The location of the hotel is good; it is 2 minutes walk from the train main station of Dusseldorf (Hauptbahnhof), if you are staying in a room on street side, then you wont be able to sleep becuase of noise of trams, the hotel is clean and new comparing to a 3 stars hotel, the breakfast is very good. Hotel itself is good place to come for a short buisness trip, as you are connected to all Dusseldorf and even Germany (Near by train, tram, and metro stations). Some of the rooms are not convient for handycabed as you HAVE to use the stairs to reach it and i find this a disadvantge for such rooms.
Anyway if you are planing for short trip with friends or colleagues this is a good place to stay at with affordable prices.
