“Perfectly acceptable little hotel & very nice breakfast”
Reviewed 20 December 2013

Stayed here for two nights this week. My favourite thing was the breakfast – a good choice including cereals, fruit, bread, yoghurt, cold meat, cheeses, eggs, hot sausages and a variety of teas. Even bits and bobs like olives and gherkins and a strangely addictive creamy substance called 'meat salad'. I lingered for ages trying everything! I've had worse breakfasts at more expensive hotels.

The location is handy for the station (10 minutes' walk); it's a brisk 20-minute walk to the old town and Rhine, but I felt safe enough walking to and from the old town at night.

The décor and furniture in the reception and breakfast room are very dated and make the place appear rather gloomy. And there are artificial flowers and plants everywhere – adding to the old-fashioned impression. Fake flowers to me scream 'not fresh!!', which is the last image hoteliers would want to create. Ever willing to eat, I was nearly caught out by the realistic-looking plastic grapes in reception!

But the staff are friendly and helpful. And the bedroom was a nice surprise – plain white walls, wood-effect floor and everything clean and neat. I liked the nice touches of the magnifying make-up mirror and the complimentary slippers.

The shower took an age to heat up but patience paid off and the water came hot in the end.

I got two nights including breakfast for 118 euros through an online booking site. I'm not sure how that compares with other hotels in the area. The hotel literature says you can get cheaper prices by booking direct, so that might be worth a try.

Stayed here for 2 nights first week in December. Clean hotel, nice sized room and bathroom. Good choice at breakfast. 10-15 minute walk from railway station. 15 minute walk to old town area where there are many pubs and restaurants. The tower is well worth going up, do it on a clear day.

The hotel is new and everything is clean. It is an excellent value for the money. The room size is grate and it was quite. The breakfast is very good. The location is grate only 7 min walk to the main station and very close to the other attraction and the old town. I walked all over the city. I think the owners are Japanese origin. The room has a small empty refrigerator, telephone, slippers but no water boiler or coffee machine. The towels are white and clean. The elevator is enough for one person with his bag. An extra 7 Euro for the breakfast. I would go back again.

Room Tip: my room was quite and facing the back of the building

Very good breakfast and service.
Would be good if lights on the floor are always on or at least have motion sensor to turn on (if need to save electricity). After checking in, I stepped out of the elevator to my floor, and it was very dark. I was not able to see the light switch right away.

As others have said this hotel has an excellent location within easy walking distance of Altstadt and train station, yet is on a quiet street. Our twin room was a good size and very clean with comfortable beds, plenty of storage space and a good bathroom. Staff are very friendly and helpful as well as being understanding of guest's pathetic attempts at speaking German. They offered map and directions on arrival, check in was easier than if we had still been in England, and they proactively offered to let us leave our bags safely with them given our flight was not until late evening. Would definitely book again when in Dusseldorf.

Please do not be put off by the entrance to the hotel as it is a bit uninspiring as once inside the hotel you will be pleasantly surprised. The rooms are large , modern, spotless and the hotel provides toiletries, hair dryer , hotel slippers, papers ( in German ) tea / coffee making , free Wi-Fi , desktop computer in the lobby and a really good breakfast in a spacious breakfast room . This is a family run hotel and the staff are really helpful with nothing seeming too much trouble even printing off train timetables’ when we went to Cologne. The location is great in the middle of town a 5- 10min walk to the old town, Rhine promenade or main train station. Before the trip I was tempted to book one of the chain hotels but I am so glad I didn’t I was so pleased with accommodation and service provided
From the airport you can take the regional train ( Sky Train connection) or the S Bahn ( exit airport turn left , down steps by McDonalds ) cost 2.50 euro takes about 7 -8 mins to Dusseldorf Hauptahnhof main station and then a walk to the hotel.
Cologne is great for the day takes about 30 min from the main train station the cost was 16 Euros return , there is also a good all inclusive ( yes drinks) boat trip on the Rhine from the old town

My family of 3 people stayed here for 1 night. It has a nice location, about 10 minute walk to the popular shopping promenade. The workers at the lobby are very helpful and nice. The lobby is clean and nicely decorated. The elevator is slightly small, it can probably only fit 2 people and a luggage at a time. The room was clean and had a slightly small bathroom. We didn't get to try the breakfast but it looked pretty decent. Overall, a great hotel.
