We stayed at the Mercure City Center 2 Nights July 2014. Starting with the booking, I have to compliment the Manager of the reservation team who was very friendly and helpful. We booked the a suit (455) which normally sleeps max.4 but she very kindly agreed to add an extra bed so our triplets could comfortably sleep.
On arrival we entered the room and it was so nice to see the effort they had made, completely understanding the needs of a Family with Triplets. Each of the kids beds had towels and Gummibaerchen (Sweeties)....They were so excited! Everything was clean and lovely. We even had a little balcony (not the nicest view) but in case you wanted to step out.
In the morning we had breakfast in the Hotel .... Compliments to the Chef ("Ana") who was so sweet with out kids and made great scrambled eggs and pancakes. Loved the choice of breakfast.
Only downside... very little... the safe didn't work and the coffee machine had no instructions.

This hotel is very well located, it is 10 minutes walking by the konigsalle and 15 minutes by the altstadt. The rooms are large (i booked a privilege one) and the price wasn't steep. the minibar is free and the breakfast is really gorgeous, it is worth the price for sure. You can ask a crepe or a waffel to the chef that instantly will prepair it for you. There are a lot of cooked meals ready and a good variety of cheese and ham. really recommended

Room Tip: privilege rooms are a bit more expensive but are worth the price

We spent a week in Mercure Dusseldorf City Centre. This is a very good accommodation in Dusseldorf. Located close to the main train station (Hauptbahnhof) and also walking distance to Altstadt. The City Information Office is at the front of the railway station, a few minute walk from the hotel. The tram stop is in front of the hotel, while a metro is station is located at the railway station. The room was very clean. The service in the hotel was very good. All reception personnel was courteous and knowledgeable. Initially, I was a bit concerned about accessibility of the elevator, since there is only one small elevator for 7 floors, but for the entire week we have never faced any elevator problem. Our room was huge. Totally sufficient for two us, however some of my friends that had different rooms complained about the size of rooms and bathrooms. WiFi in our room worked very well. It was not slow. We did not use neither the restaurant nor the bar so that we cannot comment on these establishments. In summary, this is a recommended hotel in Dusseldorf, commensurate with Mercure standard.

Room Tip: Ask for the room at the end of the corridor. Our room was significantly larger than other rooms. See...

I chose this hotel as it was close to the Haupbanhof, and with that often comes a dubious neighbourhood. In this case, the area was pleasant, and the hotel is a 10/15 walk from Königsallee for the shoppers, and from the Altstadt/Rhein area.
The hotel itself was clean and functional, the rooms were of a pleasant size and the bathroom was fine.
The breakfast was nice, and served in an airy conservatory. If you're inclined to want breakfast at the hotel, I would suggest getting it as a deal and part of your room cost, as buying it separately is pricey.
Free Wifi was offered, which was a pleasant surprise. The connection is quite slow but perfectly suitable for emails and browsing the web. A faster connection can be purchased.
The staff were very friendly and helpful.

This was our second occasion staying at this hotel, previously stayed in December. Room was fine with air-conditioning, though not very powerful. Bathroom facilities were fine. Excellent buffet breakfast in an attractive room. Staff are friendly and helpful. Service in bar not as friendly as in the rest of the hotel. Free access to Internet in the Hotel Lobby. Minibar, TV and Safe in room. Would definitely stay again. Very close to Hauptbanhoff, Trams and Buses. Outdoor bar area is nice.

Room Tip: Would recommend a room at the back as the Trams run very nearby.

The room is super hot and its not even hot outside. Its like they want to be jerks and turned the heat on before I got here or something

Minibar fridge doesnt work

The toilet space is HILARIOUSLY small, I mean I want to bring the manager up here and watch him try to sit on it, I mean its just barely functional my knees hit both walls! (managers if you read this room 607) Same thing with shower, tiny, and it leaks.

People were nice at check in and the bed was comfy, so I wont give it 1-star. But its also pretty expensive for this lower quality. I paid 110 euro with a corporate rate. I feel like its worth 70 euro. Location is central though

But yeah, try somewhere else

Room Tip: The best room will be in a different hotel

We participate in Messe Dusseldorf organised exhibition since 1994 as exhibitor and we always look for a good hotel near Central station. It is good location hotel for shopping area and departmental stores. We have been staying this hotel in Dusseldorf since last 4 years and has nice courteous reception staff and Managers.Only drawback is size of the room and bathroom while bed are comfortable, house keeping is excellent. We all love breakfast of the hotels which has wide range of items like fruits, cheese, croissant ,yogurts, milk, bread and Omelettes and half fried eggs. Pancakes.Staff is excellent and always smiling and offered excellent service which makes our day and are full of energy while going for Exhibition fully refreshed and being exhibitor, we can work tirelessly in Exhibition. Only thing we miss is security of hotel in Lobby and it should be improvised by putting a staff member for the security and safety of Hotel Guest. In our last trip one of our colleague was sitting in lobby at the time of checkout and two persons entered in the Hotel Lobby and one of them asked our colleague about some address and other person ran away with his mobile as we had to catch the long distance train on last day, we could not complain to police, however hotel staff helped us by showing a video about taking of the miles by intruders. However we do not blame hotel as it was duty of person to take care of his belongings. We are mentioning this for other future travellers to any hotel to take care. Overall experience of our stay in Hotel Mercure City Centre Dusseldorf during our stays has been wonderful as they have very nice staff who makes us comfortable during our stay.Only suggestion we make to hotel to have more internet desk in Hotel lobby as one connection in big hotel is not sufficient. We recommend this hotel as It is nice hotel with good location and staff to make your stay comfortable. I look forward to staying in this hotel again this year also as usual as this hotel with excellent service and breakfast makes our stay memorable and enjoyable
