“frriendly staff and clean hotel!”
Reviewed 18 October 2012

This clean and cosy hotel near trailway station was excellent choice for our trip to Dusseldorf. We stayed here for 5 nights and this hotel was worth value. The staff was very friendly and humoresque. Only the noise outside the street was little bit annoying. we had to keep windows open because of the heat outside (and inside). Breakfast was really superior and tasty, I would rank it maybe the best I have ever got for breakfast. There were many oriental restaurants aside/nearby, butunfortunately they were closed in the evenings we tried to get in. Of course, there were pasta/pizza places and döner places just around the corner and the prices were really reasonable. The shop downstairs really helped us to pick up things during the days.

This was a business trip, so we did not have really time to search around places - unfortunately.

I stayed here in January 2011. The hotel does not have main ground floor frontage and is located above several shops. From the exterior it appears as a non descript 1960’s office block, and could be easily missed. The reception is on the first floor and is decorated in a modern contemporary style. The hotel is located a few minutes away from the main train station is a good central location. The room was modern with plush fixtures and furnishings. The rooms appeared to be themed, with ours covered in Vogue pictures. Only complaint / downside of the hotel that there is no main bar area/ public areas. It very much felt like a room only establishment although breakfast is on offer at a cost. The price we paid was ok, and value for money I think for Düsseldorf? If I was staying in Düsseldorf again I probably would try another hotel, not to say I had a bad experience here.

I had to stay in Dusseldorf during my latest full travel week as destination no. 3.
"Friends" looks nice from the pictures and is a short walk only from the main train station.
Coming in by airberlin from Zurich and the suburban train from the airport.
Turn left from the main exit to the city and walk some 5 to 10 minutes along not the nicest area, ok it´s the main train station like everywhere else, too.
There is a "Kaisers" supermarket next door and also a couple of fast food restaurants.
That´s what I call convenient. And when you like to visit the old town for some party, it´s simply also in walking distance.
A nice welcome in the evening from the young male agent at check-in.
Level 5 from 6 for me as top floor requested, ok so far.
It´s a refurbished old building but anyway
the room clean and with the right size for me on the short stay.
Modern style furniture, the bathroom a bit from the smaller side, but also ok.
A good nights sleet, no noise, with a view from my room.
Breakfast was included in the fare, 80.00 Euro´s, acceptable for Dusseldorf and was nice, buffet style. Also no time during check out.
Definitely a recommendable place in walking distance to public transport and the old town.
Well, the downsides?. Mainly the area around the main train station, but that´s not the hotels fault.

I used this hotel when I had to find reasonably priced accommodation in central Dusseldorf when attending a business show at the Messe exhibition centre.

After a 10 minute walk from the central station in an OK area the entrance did not look promising - however upstairs there was a contemporary reception and small lounge/breakfast room. My room also had a seperate office. Staff were friendly and helpful and breakfast was very good. Free internet worked but a bit slow

The hotel is cheap, 5 min walk to the main train station, the wall to wall carpet. Was anoying, the shower needs some caustic soda, and my madrass kept falling down due the crappie bed, sorted my selv the day after. In general a decent hotel, but wo.t stay there the next time

Stayed in the Friends Hotel Dusseldorf for one night on the 20th Sept 2011. To get to the hotel from the airport is quick and simple. From arrivals take the Skytrain to the Airport Station. Purchase a ticket, 2.30 euro, and the train journey takes 7 mins. Exit Dusseldorf main station at the front exit, turn right and walk for 7 mins and the Hotel is on your right. The entrance is hard to find. It is a glass door, beside a supermarket, with a busser access pad. You enter and go to the first floor for reception.
I was travelling on my own and was given room 404. The room was massive. It had a typical European double bed with two matress's which were very comfortable. It had a three piece leather suite, a sideboard on which the TV sat, and a large four piece wardrobe. The bathroom was the normal size with, wc, hand basin, and shower, which was easy to operate. If you are a light sleeper the trams running outside may cause you some bother. They did not waken me. All in all the room could not be faulted.
The breakfast was typical continental with a good selection of, cereals, cold meats, etc, and toast. The staff on reception and on breakfast duty were very pleasent and helpful.
When I am back in Dusseldorf again I certainly will stay at Friends.

Room Tip: High floor and rooms to the back
