“Average, not 4 star!”
Reviewed 6 September 2012

I recently visited Dusseldorf and stayed at the city partner hotel dusseldorf city. According to my experience this hotel is far from a four star hotel. The rooms were small but okay. There was no airconditioning and because i stayed there in the summer, it would have been nice to have airconditioning. The rooms were clean and the staff was friendly. Unfortunatly we had a room close to the entrance of the hotel on the ground floor. We could hear everyone talking that passed by the hotel, including hotel guests that were smoking outside of our window in fron of the hotel. Luckily we were tired so it only bothered us in the morning. Make sure you ask for a room on the second or third floor to avoid this. Furthermore the breakfast was okay but not four star quality. Off all the hotels i visited this was the worst breakfast i've had. Not saying that it's that bad, but saying that it can be a lot better. We arrived at night and there were no parking spaces nearby the hotel. We had to park our car 2 streets away. So altough parking is free, there are no parking spaces specific for hotel guests. You should just park your car somewhere in the street. This was not a bit problem for us, but i taught it might be worth mentioning. In the end the hotel is okay but don't expect any 4 star luxary.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the second, third floor or higher. The rooms on the ground floor, on the street si...

this hotel was very reminiscent of a comfort inn or something like that; relatively generic and not too much personality, but there was also nothing offensive either. the location is not really convenient to the city center, but the advantage is that it is quiet in the evenings. the hotel and rooms were clean, and the desk staff was also quite friendly and helpful. upon first entering my room it smelled as though it had been closed up for a while and not used, but I opened the window and let in some fresh air, which helped (and being as quiet as it was, you could actually leave the window open at night). the breakfast was decent; there was a good enough selection to offer a variety but there wasn't anything particularly notable there either. if you're looking for a hotel that's a good stopover point, this is a good selection for no-nonsense and price. there is also a good restaurant nearby called Weise, which is convenient for a good dinner.

We stayed three nights in this hotel, and we loved it. The rooms were clean, the staff helpful and friendly, the breakfast had everything, from fresh fruit to salmon to scrambled eggs and bacon.
WIFI was working in the room, fast in the morning, slower in the evening.
Public transportation (tram) is around the corner of the hotel and brings you in 10-15 minutes to the Altstadt (Old Town).

I stayed here on business in August. The rooms are not air conditioned; however, you can open a window for air. There is not a fan in the room. The WiFi does not work well in the room. Most times, the WiFi did not work in the room at all. The room itself was clean and the bathroom was nicely decorated with marble. The beds are small. The staff was always very accommodating.

The hotel is OK, not more. It doesn't go the extra mile for the guests. it's just not a place I'll be thrilled to come back to. The breakfasts were very nice - lots of options to choose from, but plates weren't refilled, or at least not on timely matter. It claims to have minibars on the rooms, but there wasn't one on the room I've stayed at. The WIFI is not working on large areas of the hotel - including my room. Sometimes it's completely off also in the lobby.
The biggest disadvantage I believe is the lack of A/C which is very important - and could be found today in every modern hotel.

We stayed for two nights at City Partner Hotel Dusseldorf over a weekend in June 2011.

Positives: Really helpful and knowledgable staff they were able to recommend restaurants, clubs and provide maps as well. Our room was spotlessly clean and the bathrooms were decorated to a high standard with marble throughout. The location was in a beautiful leafy area just by the university with quick and easy tram rides straight into the altstadt.

Negatives: Our room had no minibar. Also No AC! as a result when it was over 20 degrees at night it became super uncomfortable. The only ventilation was via large windows that also served as doors on to a mini balcony. When it started raining we got wet! Also people waking up early in the morning would close their windows with a loud bang that would inevitably wake you up. Dusseldorf is also a party city and the hotel had a few stag do's in, if you're expecting quietness over the weekend you won't find it here.

Nice hotel, just been renewed, so it was very pleasant to be there.
includ: TV, Free High Speed Internet, telephone,mini-bar, close to internal rail (line 706,707), nearness to local university, adjacent to very nice park includ to small lakes and a some friendly waterfowls and squirrels, mini golf for childrens and neerby coffee shop, more there in the park more coffee shops and a nice pub.
in the streets around the hotel some nice resturants of some kinds (reasonable price),
supermarket, pharmacy, barber's shop and somr more regular shops.
It can be park under the hotel and on the street of the hotel, both are free. The highway is neerby also, one or two minuts drive, and it can take you to all the big city and attraction around.
The breakfast are quit good and include: agges, sausages, chees, some kindes of bread, coffie, water, tea, juice, frute and cornflakes.
The service is good and pleasant, but I must say that when I had a small problem in the shower-bath they can not soled it. Also if you have 2 rooms whith door between them you must tell them to open it before you came to the hotel.
