“Will stay here everytime we go to Dusseldorf”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 July 2014

We go to Dusseldorf at least once every year and we have stayed in several hotels, but this one is absolutely my favorite, so we have decided a few years ago that we will stay only here.
Being an InterContinental Platinum Ambassador gives us free room upgrade, free breakfast, free wi-fi, free fruits and other benefits that i don't really remember now.
The hotel looks spectacular, especially the elevators who are all made of glass over a very nice view of the inside of the hotel. We have stayed only in the apartments, so I am not sure how the regular rooms look like, but the apartments look wonderful, they are really big and I love the glass wall of the bathroom.
Everything is very clean, the sheets and the towels are impeccable and changed daily. For every item you need you can call the reception.
All the stuff is very concern with your stay and they do anything that they can to make you feel good. If you want to go to a restaurant ask the reception to make you a reservation because you will see the difference.
The breakfast was the only meal we have eaten at the hotel and was really tasty and with a large variety of products.
Love the hotel and will surely visit it every time we will have the chance.

This is great hotel, in a great location. Rooms are lovely, nice and spacious, separate bath tub and shower, though shower head is a little low for anyone over 5.10! Everything I ordered from room service or in the restaurant was really tasty and beautifully presented. You can use the gym next door for free, it has everything you need including a pool.

Room Tip: Get a room inside for a quieter sleep

The InterContinental is a great hotel to stay in Dusseldorf.
Its central location makes it perfect to explore the city and to shop.

Everything was superb from check-in till check-out.
The front desk agent also recognized my ambassador status, but the only downside was that I didn't get a room upgrade.

The club lounge is a very nice extra. Drinks and snacks throughout the day.

Breakfast is served both in the club and on the ground floor.
We decided to have breakfast on the ground floor and that is perfect. Lots of choice and good quality products.

Thanks to all the staff for an amazing stay.

I already booked my next stay! Only 3 weeks to go :-)

Room Tip: The club lounge is a nice extra.

Spent 4 nights on business while my wife and friends toured the area. You could not find a better location in Dusseldorf. The hotel is walking distance to the Old Town, many attractions and restaurants, and is located on the Koenigsallee, site of numerous high end, and high priced shops. We had breakfast and some lunches in the hotel restaurant and always found the food and service to be excellent. There is large lounge in the lobby with comfortable chairs where you can relax and enjoy a drink or even high tea. We wound up with a large suite that was well decorated with an extremely large bathroom. We had great interaction with all of the staff excepting a small problem on check in. I had to cancel one of my parties stay and found out that it was non cancelable, which would result in only a 10% refund. I missed this and did not read the fine print, so this was my fault. The problem came when I was informed that the price I had on my confirmation was incorrect and was in reality higher. It took more time than it should have to get resolved, and the customer with a printed confirmation should not have to waste their time resolving this type of issue, but it was resolved and we had a fantastic 5 days in Dusseldorf. I would recommend the hotel to anyone looking for a true 5 star hotel.

As long time member of IHG we encountered our first problem making reservation online. Choosing a double room type they proposed a room with breakfast for UP TO TWO PERSONS. When confirming this reservation we noticed that an amount of 30 euro/$40 was added to our bill for the 2nd persons breakfast.
As we contacted the hotel to inform them that in our opinion this was not correct and that breakfast for up to 2 persons means breakfast for max. 2 persons. They just replied that there was no error. Arriving in the hotel we asked to get in contact with a representative, but nobody ever replied to our demand. Second problem we encountered. The hotel offers a fitness/wellness. As we had a long journey we decided to take a sauna. Searching for the entrance to the sauna we were redirected to the 7/8th floor. From there you need to take an elevator to the fitness which is an outside/private company. Arriving there we were informed that there are NO lockers for hotel guests and that you have to come in swimsuit/wardrobe to the fitness/sauna. Knowing that almost 80% of the guests come for business, you really feel ridiculous wondering through this hotel in wardrobe crossing business men in suits. Room are OK but the above made decide is to go in future somewhere else.

Room Tip: Check your bill before making a final reservation

Dear Marja-Alain,

Thank you very much for your feedback on your recent stay at the InterContinental Düsseldorf. We greatly appreciate taking your time to bring your experience to our attention.

I would like to apologise for the inconvenience and discomfort you mentioned in your review. This is not the high quality of service we want to provide and certainly not indicative for our standards. We are aware that the online reservation system may be confusing when it is first used and there should have been somebody contacting your during your stay, to explain the online process. I am very sorry for this.

Regarding your visit at the Holmes Places Health Club - there are lockers for all visitors and usually you can get a padlock on loan. In fact it is not unusual that our guests walk in bathrobes over the hallways, even our business guests do not mind this.

Even though you were dissatisfied about the above mentioned points, we would be honored to welcome you once again to our hotel to convince you of the general all-round excellent service.

Kind regards,

Michaela Weisskopf
