“Great value hotel in quiet area”
Reviewed 16 June 2013

We stayed for two nights at Max Hotel Garni. It's not in the center of town but thanks to Trip Advisor reviews, we decided to give it a shot. I'm so glad we did! Petra and Bilge (pronounced Bilg-ah) were wonderful hostesses. Bilge greeted us with her warm smile and even carried one of our heavy bags up the stairs (no elevator). All of the rooms are on the second floor and have free WIFI which you can access from you room. Our room was bright, cheerful and had a coffee maker in the room and a flat screen TV. The small fee you pay for breakfast also includes free beer, water and cokes throughout the day. This was the ONLY hotel in our month-long travels that offered this. It's just a 10 minute walk to the Koenigsallee which is the place to go for wonderful shopping and restaurants with the Altstadt just a 5 minute walk from there. Along the way, you'll pass a Kaufhof (which is like a Macy's) that has a wonderful gourmet/grocery/cafe level and post office in the basement of the store. Around the hotel, there are quite a few restaurants within a 5 minute walk but they are mostly ethnic - Japanese, Chinese, Greek, etc. There is no parking on site but you park very close by at a parking garage at another hotel.

We will DEFINITELY return to Max Hotel Garni.

Room Tip: All of the rooms are nice but ask for a room closer to the office if you need a good WIFI connection...

Our family of 3 stayed at Max Hotel Garni one night in May. Quiet location, but close to Altstadt. Very helpful, accommodating staff. Great breakfast and lovely to have free beer available in the fridge. Excellent room design that takes advantage of space and has convenient storage for longer stays. Wholeheartedly recommend Max Hotel Garni!

Stay for 3nights in May-13. Location is relatively near to railway station but we took a while to find it on the first day. Along a quiet street but feel relatively safe. Was served by a very nice and friendly lady (name pronounced as "bill gates"). Breakfast is good and has free beer and soft drinks throughout the day. We were given a transport card which allow free tram and bus rides, and discounted railway tickets to cologne. 1 con is that hotel never top up soap in the toilet even when it is empty by 2nd day. Overall great value for $$!

A small boutique hotel, ideally located very close to the Konigsalle and the main train station. Very friendly and warm service, breakfast spread is decent. The free drinks near the reception and a common microwave available at all times for the guests (on Floor 1) were nice touches. Although there wasnt a lift and we had a few bags and a buggy for our toddler son, the receptionist was more than happy to help, without being asked. Definitely recommended. Very good value.

Only con is parking can be a bit tricky unless you want to pay 12 Euros a day for parking at a nearby hotel. We were alright with street parking as it was the weekend!

Room Tip: We stayed in Room 20, a corner room close to the microwave and reception and were happy with the roo...

Just a few minutes from the central railway station by foot, this charming small hotel offers a peaceful haven close to the busy city centre. Friendly service, a close attention to detail some nice homely touches mean that a pleasant and restful stay is assured.

Room Tip: During my several stays at the Hotel Max I never found any room to be inferior to any of the others...

This hotel offers so much! When you arrive you get a pass to use the trams, busses, and underground for you're entire stay. You also get a full breakfast with the hot coffee of your choice. The rooms are tastefully decorated and the beds are comfortable. Bilge, our host, was the best! She speaks English and is so personable. It's an eight minute walk to Central Station. We will stay here again on our next visit to Dusseldorf.

Room Tip: No elevator but rooms are only one floor up.

We stayed only one night in this lovely hotel, but if we ever return to Düsseldorf, we will come back to this hotel again.

The hotel is small, personal, fun, hospitable and cosy, so that is why we felt like visiting friends. The staff was very helpful and friendly. And it was such a nice gesture to let us take a drink from the downstairs fridge and give us the possibility to use public transportation for free.

The breakfast selection wasn't very big but everything was delicious, and it was excellent service to have scrambled eggs done just for us.

Our room was spacious enough and very clean. The only minus is that you might need earplugs: foot steps and voices come through the walls and ceiling easily. We didn't have noisy neighbors so the room was very quiet at night, so no complaints.

The location was good, too: the railway station is close and so are the main shopping streets and the old town.
