My wife and I were staying just one night in Dusseldorf but despite that it was hard to leave this charming little hotel. Christian runs a really unique boutique hotel that we will definitely return to. The little touches everywhere like temperature gauge on the window, free self service beverage bar, laptop on teh corridor for internet use and free city travel pass on the room card put many larger much more expensive hotels to shame.
The hotel is super convenient to the station and city centre and most things are either walkable or rapidly accessible by public transport from nearby stops.
The breakfast was excellent and Christian was one of the most helpful & pleasent hotel proprietors we'd met and we've travelled a lot.
This a compact hotel, not perhaps for those who like a large bar or pool area to lounge in but as a small city centre hotel for independent travellers I cannot recommend it highly enough.

It is absolutely a jewel!
everything from breakfast to beds and bathrooms is perfect.
Christian takes very good care of guests and makes you feel at home.
Also the location is perfect per strolling to KonigsAllee and further away with bus/tram (Christian was also very helpful with info)
Definitely our place in Duesseldorf!

We spent the night here to make an early flight from Dusseldorf back to the US. The hotel is a three block walk from the main train station and it is only 7 minutes by train to the airport (or 25 minutes by bus, which picks up a block from the hotel). No lift (which was a concern only because we were traveling with two seniors who have trouble with stairs), but the rooms are only one flight up from the reception. The rooms and bathrooms were clean and fresh and the hotel provided lots of little extras such as umbrellas in the rooms, coffee, drinks and snacks available at all times, free use of a computer and complimentary transportion tickets for the use of the trams, buses and U-bahns in the town.

The immediate area around the hotel is a little rundown, but the Aldstadt is only a short tram ride away.

My daughter, husband and I stayed at the Max Hotel Garni last weekend for a short two night stay to attend the Christmas Markets in Dusseldorf. The owner-manager, Christian, took excellent care of us. The rooms were roomy, warm and comfortable. The beds were exceptionally comfortable. The bathrooms are scrupulously clean and up-to-date as well. Free access to a computer with internet was included in the hallway. The breakfast was unbelievable - everything from meats, cheeses, rolls, to fresh fruit salad, yogurt, scrambled and boiled eggs. Christian also provides complimentary espresso/coffee and a mini-bar stocked with water, Coke and German beer in the lobby! And there were umbrellas in our rooms for walking around town. Since there are only 11 rooms, all guests get personal attention. This hotel really feels like a bed and breakfast and left us with a very high opinion of German hospitality!!!

Staid one night, paid 65 Euro. Rooms are very clean, and although the deco has been purchased at Ikea and the likes, the deco is excellently selected and arranged. Enough space for a desk to work on. Not many rooms here. Small but good breakfast considering the price. It is quite centrally located, not in the middle of the action, but a good evenings walk away.

Will go there again.
