Was actually forced to stay in Dusseldorf because of the exorbitant hotel rates in Cologne at the time of ANUGA 2013.
Quite easy to get to this hotel by tram from Dusseldorf station, but a bit difficult to spot the place. Stayed here for one night in a room on the 5th floor. The room was very cute and being on the top floor, there was plenty of natural light inside the room and bathroom, which was actually great.
The biggest shock, matter of panic and disappointment was lack of WiFi, although they offered free wired internet, which is kind of pre-historic situation for a country like Germany. I say shock and panic because my laptop was dying and I did not have an adapter to suit German sockets! When enquired about this, they said that they would be sorting out this issue soon.
Breakfast, as you would expect anywhere in Europe, was fantastic and fully loaded.
I am not that aware of German standards, but I suppose 65 Euros for a night's stay this hotel in Dusseldorf is a bit too much. However, I have no regrets.

Room Tip: Ideally, get a room on the topmost floor.

I was attending a trade fair in Cologne recently and needed a bed for one night. Because I was late in booking and most hotels are booked out long in advance in Cologne I went straight to Duesseldorf - half an hour away from Cologne by train. I found Hotel Aleksandra online - t seemed to be good - judging by the photos - but the price looked suspiciously low. Nevertheless, I booked a room for one night online. After my first day at the fair I headed toward the address I was given, hoping that the Hotel actually existed. I arrived on foot from the nearest S-Bahn (commuter train) station which is only five minutes walk away. I was show my room which was larger and better than I expected. It was very clean , and the bathroom was large and a delight.
I spent a comfortable night there. I saw quite a few other business travelers there also. Breakfast was good - and in good and typical European fashion. Excellent coffee!
Overall I could not have been happier with my choice of hotel, the room, the breakfast and especially the friendly service of the staff. Well done Hotel Aleksandra!!
