This hotel is a genuine 4 star establishment. The rooms are spacious and comfortable with a large en suite. The bed linen and towels are changed daily and the room is cleaned on a daily basis also. Tea/coffee making facilities would be a welcome addition to the rooms. We found the staff to be extremely friendly and those at reception were very helpful. Breakfast is served from 6 am to 10 am but is a bit pricey at €15 each. The hotels restaurant is open each evening, Monday to Saturday for dinner and the bar each night Monday to Friday. The hotel is centrally located and is just a 1 minute walk from the main transport hub where you can get a train, underground, bus and tram with a taxi rank also located here. The main shopping street is also just 1 minute from the hotel with a huge selection of designer and high street shops as well as an abundance of Coffee Shops and some restaurants. For anyone visiting Essen for business or pleasure this hotel is ideal. There are no leisure facilities but plenty of walking to explore the city.

I stayed for just the one night, and had a nice room but with...well, let's just say the decor probably looked wonderful in 1975. Free Wifi was great, no room service which was a shame. Overall, perfectly OK, staff very friendly, just nothing special.

The location here is really helpful, especially if you are priced out of Dusseldorf like I was. I also needed to travel to Bochum for the day and this was the best option, since Bochum was 15 minutes away. Desk clerk was helpful. Room was quiet and comfortable with a good shower. I didn't eat breakfast there, but lots of alternatives in the train station. If you like Turkish good, I suggest Tablo

We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights.
Friendly, great value and plenty of space. the location was superb, 2 clicks from the Railway station. The hotel has a lot of atmosphere, it dates back to the 1880s and part of the hotel is old.
Breakfast was excellent.

Room Tip: Rooms at the street side are noisy. Ask for a comfort room, it is great value.

Location: directly at the railway main station
Room: 12 sqm room with carpet floor and flat screen TV and 3 sqm bath
Bed: not so big (90x200) but very comfy
Bathroom/Shower: 90x90 shower
Cleanliness: very good
Air Condition/Heating: real radiators but no air condition
WLAN: free and fast (LAN also for free available)
Parking: the only not so good information: they told me to take the public garage they have a contract for cheaper prices. It cost me 9 Euro/night and the I found out that you can park directly in the street for free between 8 pm and 10 am the next morning
Breakfast : didn't have breakfast
Restaurant: : same as breakfast
Language: : german, english
Staff: very frienldy, professional and helpful (except the information regarding parking)
Credit Cards: western standard cards accepted
Sauna: no
Pool: no
Extra benefits: nice idea: the sounf from the TV is transmitted to the bathroom and as well to a little speaker at the head side of the bed.
Conclusion: I will come back

Room Tip: take a room in the new building facing to the atrium (very calm)
