“Beautiful Hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 July 2013

Friederike Hotel was a very pleasant surprise in Muelheim an der Ruhr. We got there earlier than check in time and we had no problem with getting our room. Although we had booked a standard double room, we were upgraded to an apartment split in two levels. The room was very clean and of high standards.
The breakfast was included in the reasonable price we paid and it was fresh, delicious and of excellent quality.
We will definitely be going back!

One of those small unique hotels that are hard to find in Germany those days. Perfect location, nice cafés and restaurants (well, the very few that do exist in Mülheim) nearby. Rooms with enough space, including a closet, with nice vintage furniture, wooden floor and modern bath room. Staff is very nice and helping. Free easy internet!

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights during Karneval in Feb 2013. We booked the duplex apt for 4 as we have 2 boys aged 7 and found a great deal of space for all 4 of us on the 2 levels. We had 2 tv's and a balcony for some peace and quiet. The hotel staff were very friendly and the breakfast was varied and well stocked. The rooms were very clean with soap /shower gel and fresh towels provided every day. The hotel is a 5 minute walk from the centre of Mulheim but is still very peacefull. We will return next year to the same hotel. Excellent

Room Tip: We had room 21 which overlooked the gardens and was fantastic for us. The rooms overlooking the gard...

I stayed in this hotel with 2 friends, have been here before a year ago. Why here? This is a great starting point if you want to drive your bicycle upstream along the ruhr river. But anyway, the hotel. We had the triple bed "apartment". This is a large room with one bed "below" and two "upstairs". Gives you a choice if one likes to sleep alone. Good beds, tv's (there are two), bathroom and all this for just 118 euro's. That's cheap.

Staff is very friendly, the place is clean, no complaints. Breakfast is good, so I really can recommend this hotel.

The lobby suggests a bar-facility, which isn't the case. However, the old city-centre, though small (like other german cities, much was wiped out during ww2) is only a 5 minute walk with a few nice sachsen-stiled cafe's, good food and fine german beer.

I stayed at Hotel Friederike for 3 nights in Sept, 2011 for a business conference in Muelheim and thoroughly enjoyed the stay. The staff were very friendly, the room was bright and spacious and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was delicious with a nice selection of cereals, breads, pastries, eggs and meats. The hotel had a very nice feel - a lot warmer than your standard hotel chain.

My only hesitation was that, thanks to the thick walls of the building, the wifi signal strength was too weak in my room and kept losing connection. I ended up needing to sit in the hallway to stay connected. The hotel staff were aware of this problem however and advised me that they were looking to solve this issue. I understand that I was in the new expansion of the hotel (they seemed to have purchased and expanded into the next-door house), with the smell of paint still fresh, so it is entirely possible that this was just a 'teething issue' that has now been fixed.

The hotel is 10-15min walking distance to the town centre and main train station (Mülheim Hbf), and there is a tram station almost right out the front of the building to help you move around town.

If you choose to stay here I highly recommend you check out the restaurant Mausefalle just nearby. Great beers and hearty German meals!

This charming hotel is just as nice as it was 27 years ago, when I first moved to Germany. It is small, but the people are friendly. The rooms are nice for European standards and the service is great. Unfortunately, the old owner of the hotel tragically died, but his son took over the management and it still has its charm.

The breakfast is quite good, even if the breakfast room gets a little crowded during peak times.

Room Tip: If you have a choice, take a room hat doesn't face the street. The street is quite busy, but th...
