This was an overnight business stay. The room was large with a roomy desk, LCD TV, mini bar, safe, large wardrobe, desk chair, easy chair, pouffe, extra hanging space and a large bathroom with decent sized towels and a powerful shower. There were plenty of power sockets including a triple block for laptop, phone charger on the desk space. Room service was on time and reasonably priced. The room service menu is limited but will cater for most tastes. In the bathroom there is an additional magnified mirror which is good for shaving and makeup (I assume ;-)) and there is a blind with electric control that gives you privacy from the road.
The bad things were as follows - there was no air conditioning so I opened the windows for air and cooling. This worked fine but the room faced a busy road with traffic lights nearby. This meant that noisy buses stopped outside my window waiting for the lights to change. This was a bit intrusive as was a noisy bar close bar. I ordered breakfast in my room and included tea which came without any hot water - a rather basic mistake. Despite tea/coffee making facilities available in the room, I would have expected a teapot and a receptacle with hot water in it. Breakfast itself was very good though.
I cannot give this a very good rating but perhaps it deserves slightly more than average - say 3.5
I would stay here again for the size of the room and the food and its location is very central albeit very noisy.

Room interior was fairly average, nothing to write home about, perhaps except that the pillows were rather uncomfortable. However, it was a warm summer day, and the place does not have air con, so it was hot in the room. We had to sleep with the windows open, but since our room faced the front, we had to put up with a lot of traffic noise. Thank God for earplugs...

Breakfast was fine.

The staff at reception were efficient, professional, and unwelcoming. I would rank it the worst hotel for this reason alone.
The room was past its prime with peeling paint in parts. I suspect it once had a fridge but the door was screwed shut with the head of the screw protruding.
It may be more expensive than Accors Etag and Ibis range but the larger room size was all that it had going for it.
While Etap and Ibis have free wifi in the foyer and public spaces the Mercure did not.

I would stay anywhere but here next time I visit Meunster and if this is Mercure I would not stay in another Mercure hotel.

Room Tip: A beautiful town.

Staff excellent, restaurant buffet breakfast great, dinner - had very good buffet one. Ight, fine food another. Everything fine, location across the street from a park which rings the old city. One block from train station. Two blocks from local shops.
Only problem was the shower, which was quite small, could not have been any smaller, and IT HAD A SHOWER CURTAIN, which I personally hate because I can never wrap it around properly to keep floor dry. ACCOR needs to eliminate all such dinosaurs. My present hotel, a Best Qestern, has same size shower, but with two in and out opening doors.

I believe this hotel is a new acquisition by Mercure and quite recently an Ibis. The coffee mug with their logo would suggest that at least.

Munster is a small city so I did not have high expectation and rightly so.

At arrivlal, the luggage trolley/cart took a few minutes to find and even once located, I quickly discovered the hotel was not 'accessible'. I had to schleep our luggage up the stairs and then once on our floor, down the stairs. A little odd.

The room is comfortable. Again, the new Euro thing of two small comforters on two small single beds. Whatever. By room had only a shower and I understand most are this way, so if you wish a bath, request a room with a tub in advance. Other in-room ammenities include a semi-stocked mini bar with a few soft drinks and two beer. Kettle and instant coffee set. Safe for your valuables. A 32 inch (ish) flat screen TV with a few of the Enlgish news channels.

My favourite part of the room are the three, park-facing windows which open completely and allow for a lovely flow of air. The street is relatively quiet during the evening hours, so it is a nice treat to have the fresh air.

The lobby restaurant looks quite nice, although I can't say I dined there. I had a quick business meeting in the lobby bar and the drinks were affordable, but the service was rather slow.

Same for the front desk. I bought some wi-fi and it was a bit of a chore to get the attention of teh counter-help.

NOTE: WiFi is about 9 EUR per 24 hours and the signal is rather weak.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the park, adjacent the hotel.

For a "standard" no frills city hotel I was attracted by the very update room interior and pleasant service quality! Place is frequented by airline crews spraying a cosmopolitan taste.

Very kind and alert service staff!

This is actually not a bad hotel: central location between the main station (5m on foot) and the city center (10m), nice rates and nice rooms. A cot was provided free of charge for our son. But.... since the hotel has no air-conditioning or ventilation we had to open the windows since it was quite warm this August and had to endure the the continuous noise of public-busses late at night and early in the morning. Remedy: ask for a room on the inside or courtyard.
