I had been looking forward to a dinner in Karawane since we heard that our friends would be staying at the IBIS... we had been here several times in the past and were blown away by the flavours, so we couldn't wait to be back. What a perfect occasion! And again we were not disappointed. We ordered the starters (20 mini-dishes) with flat bread: all different and all interesting, lovely flavours, not at all overpowering. Then we ordered 2 lamb makluba, 1 lamb tajine, a mixed grill, a veal and mushroom dish in a pastry, and a kebab. The food was amazing: the meat was extremely tender (especially the tajine with plums), the sauces delicious (pomegranate, plum, spices, and side-sauces with different degrees of spiciness). We all loved our main dishes. We topped it up with wine (admittedly not the most exciting Rioja ever) and some excellent teas (to help digestion). Beware: portions are very big, if you aren't hungry stick to starters! Our belgian friends took a doggy back home... the dog will have an excellent meal tonight!
