“Good choice, good food and friendly service”
Reviewed 5 June 2013

Restaurant was fairly quiet for a Friday night night due to the cold June weather. However, we were warmly greeted by the owner (?) and shown to a comfortable table. Augustis is just off the Rhinw walkway so you get a view of the old Rhine paddle steamer moored om the riverbank.

Menu includes a number of traditional German dishes but executed in a modern way. I had a consomme as a starter which was OK, followed by very good calves liver. My wife had a simple steak, which she enjoyed. We had an excellent bottle of Spātburgunder (Pinot Noir) to accompany our meal. Whilst both restaurants are very good, we actually, on balance slightly preferred Da Vinci but would visit Augustus again very happily too.

“Lives up to the Billing - Wonderful”
Reviewed 22 March 2013

We read the reviews for several restaurants on Trip Advisor and chose this one as a top choice. It was spot on with excellent service, ambiance and first class food. The wiener schnitzel and cordon bleu were delicious. On a cold March night the atmosphere was warm and inviting. We were surrounded by many Koblenzers in the dining room; a testimony to the well deserved reputation of the Augusta.

“Very, very good slow food cooking”
Reviewed 13 December 2012

The food here is excellent. The ingredients, first class and mostly organic. The portions, large and generous. The ambience, comfortable and relaxing with a view out towards the river. The service knowledgable and friendly.
We ordered a table for four for a Saturday lunch. We were the only guests that lunch time probably due to the opening of the Xmas markets. The restaurant was fully booked for the evening.
I went for the surprise menu while the rest of the group went for the lunch menu. The waiter would't tell me anything about my menu only that it would be a surprise and he said smiling " it would't be a surprise if I told you, would it"? My first course, after a few delightful amuse-gueule of duck pate and a shot of leek cappuccino , was a salad of marinated wild Alaskan salmon. The salmon was cut thickly and just evaporated in my mouth. The accompanying salad was delicious as it was dressed with a sharp vinegar cream that complimented the salmon. Next up, was a good flavorsome pumpkin soup dressed with roasted pumpkin seeds and tiny croutons. My main course arrived: two large legs of organic chicken, from the owners farm, dressed in a white wine mustard sauce with appropriate vegetables. The chicken was perfectly cooked and meaty. We drank a German Riesling that tasted delicious with our food. After that and a rest came the cheese board with chutneys and pickles. Delight stuff! Desert, was a combination of berries and a large scoop of ice cold chocolate mouse in a fruit colis. Deep intense flavors. The bill for the four of us, where we had three and four courses with wine and coffees came to 170euros. Great value and everyone left happy and content.

“Amazing food & service :-)”
Reviewed 16 September 2012

We'd been meaning to visit this restaurant for a while and finally managed it last week after being in Koblenz for 6 months. I read the reviews on Tripadvisor and can honestly say we weren't disappointed, in fact we were impressed. We are english speaking and they provided english menus for us, although their specials were in german but the staff were very helpful and translated for us.

The food was wonderful & the service was friendly & warm. We'll definitely be returning!

“delicious”
Reviewed 31 July 2012

I was our last night in Germany and so read up TA to see what was around and this restaurant sounded like something we would enjoy. We were not disappointed. The food was superb. My husband had duck breast which was tender and tasty and cooked to perfection. I had beef cheeks which had been cooked with olives and dried tomatoes and melted in your mouth. They were so tender and delicious. The serves were generous without being too much as it left room for dessert. These were all homemade and absolutely delicious. Our host suggested a wine which proved to be a winner with us. All of this with a view of the Rhine. It was a wonderful evening. Menus were also available in English which was a plus for us non German speaking tourists.
