“Overnight stopover.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 May 2013

This budget+ hotel was a convenient stopover between Frankfurt and a wedding venue my family were heading for. The rooms were comfortable and clean. The breakfast buffet was average but plentiful. We asked for a late checkout so that we could change for the wedding. This was granted without fuss.

Room Tip: Try and get a room at the back of the hotel otherwise you will have a disturbed night from traffic...

I took another group of students to this hotel again this year at Easter. We arrived on Mon.25th March and on the Tue evening we had to bring a student to hospital were he had his gall bladder removed and remained in the hospital for 10 days. During this time the owner of the hotel could not have been more helpful. She booked taxis, checked train time tables, faxed documents and arranged to allow a teacher to remain in the hotel for a few days when the main group returned to Ireland. The students mother who arrived on he Thur. would also have been allowed stay but thanks to the wonderful hospital this was not necessary as the hospital allowed her to stay with her son. The rest of the group were very well looked after during our visit. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough to any school group and indeed to anyone looking for a friendly place to stay.

Room Tip: All rooms are excellent

The rooms and the hotel are a bit dated overall but, the linens, staff, breakfast, free wifi, and location are all nice. There are two grocery stores in the next block which are good for picking up supplies. The breakfast had lots of options and was fresh and tasty. The front desk staff were accommodating and the quad room we were in was very spacious. Great place for a great price. It is not close to all the action downtown but it was convenient and quiet.

Went to this hotel as part of a Newmarket Coach Trip over Easter. Basic amenities, small bedrooms but acceptable. The bar was poorly run with either the owner helping out or a member of the dining staff popping through. The owner would turn off the lights and switch the button so the electric shutters would close on the windows as a sign the bar was closing.

The location was away from main shopping area areas so would mean a taxi ride/long walk in to the centre of town. Not much choice for breakfast, again very basic, nothing warm provided to eat, even the tea and coffee were lukewarm. Evening meal again little choice in what there was to eat. As a coach party we were told to eat in the conference room which had been laid out like a canteen. Not very nice atmosphere to eat in and afterwards most guests headed to bed as nothing else to do.

Clean orderly hotel but with no charm at all.

We found this hotel to be very nice if you have a car. It is a short drive down from the tourist area but far enough to get a peaceful night's rest. There is free parking behind the hotel and a great breakfast is included. We had 3 adults and they gave us a comfortable room with a view of the train station. There is a convenience store right next door. Departing for the autobahn is easy and just a few miles away. We are glad that we stayed here.

Room Tip: Be careful to choose the right room. Triple room was perfect for 3 adults.

Having stayed here on five seperate occasions, the last time in november 2012. for me, the
warm greeting, and smiling face of owner Frau Helga Scholz, gives a feeling that you have
arrived at the right place for your stay. although the rooms are different in size, they reflect
german cleanliness, the beds comfortable, and t.v. with BBC world together with all the German
channels you could wish for, and the t.v guide open at the days page next to your bed.
The hotel bar, off the lobby / reception area is pleasant, and both the bar and restaurant attract
local diners, The locals also hold the hotel in high regard. Breakfasts are excellent, with a very
large buffet.
The hotel is in a suburb of Koblenz, and both The Rhine and the Mosel rivers are very close.
The bahnhof is on a local bus route, or a very short taxi ride away. Koblenz is about one hour
by train from Frankfurt [FRA] and a little more from Cologne [CGN] and Duesseldorf [DUS]
there is also a transfer bus from Frankfurt hahn airport.
Within walking distance, there are three supermarkets, several restaurants, including a chinese
however the hotel restaurant is excellent.. Frau Scholz is justified in being very proud of her
hotel..

As a coach party, we should have arrived at this hotel at around 6pm, but due to an accident on the motorway we didnt arrive till around 11.30pm. The staff were brilliant had us checked into our rooms very quickly and even arranged soup and buffet style food which was waiting for us...very much appreciated, as we hadnt eaten or had drinks for a few hours.
The rooms are very basic, we had a couple of single beds, but they were very comfy. The bathroom was spotless and very modern. Our was at the front of the hotel and was very quiet.
The breakfast was continental, so something for everyone, and was regularly topped up. We didnt eat an evening meal there, so cannot comment on that aspect.
The walk into the center where the xmas markets were was around 15-20mins but pleasant enough, even though there was snow on the ground. Also the hotel supplies a map of the center which was very helpful. Koblenz is very picturesque. In all, we loved this hotel and the staff were brilliant (the same staff in the evening and at breakfast, god knows when they went home!!). We will definately return to Koblenz, enjoyed the cable car ride up to the fortress too. I have added photos, hopefully to help you decide, we would go back to Hotel Scholz
