“Top-shelf hotel”
Reviewed 19 October 2013

Great business hotel.

Check in was brisk, friendly and professional. They took great pains to try to upgrade. The first night I had a river view, which is great. Very serene and the room was good. The second time I was across the bridge on the opposite side of the road. Slightly nicer room but it's a schlep to the main part of the hotel. And the view was in to someone's apartment.

The room itself was a good size. Had a very comfortable bed, plenty of work space, and pretty good wi-fi. The bathroom was a good size and the shower was great.

Had a good night's sleep. Couldn't hear much noise from the corridor.

Breakfast is very good. Good quality and great service.

And all for a pretty good price.

Can highly recommend.

We had one night before our flight out of Frankfurt International Airport and chose to spend it in Mainz. It was only about a 25 minute drive to the airport. Noticed that a lot of flight crews spend the night here.

Overall the Hilton Mainz is perfect. Great location on the Rhein river. We upgraded to a river view suite and enjoyed watching the boats float by. The suite was huge! Tons of space to spread out with 3 seperate seating areas. We had our friends down to our room and enjoyed a bottle of wine on our last day in Germany.

The room was very clean and the bed very comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. Plus the hotel was a short 10 minute walk to the cathedral and downtown activites.

Room Tip: Get a room with a river view and enjoy watching the boats float by.

We stopped here on out way through to Heidelberg. Only the one night but it was very comfortable, has a nice bar and restaurant with a great location by the river. The hotel is more on the outer side n the main town making it easy to get to but is still close enough to explore from.

Room Tip: Only stayed in the main building so can't comment on the other wing

Stayed here for three nights with a friend. Some mix-up with the accomodation booking, wanted twin room, but gave me king size bed. I explained that twin would suit us better. Gave us king room, but upgraded us to river view - you have got to do that.
View from room over the River Rhine, across to the castle on the opposite side, watching boats pass by, some mooring at the side of the hotel - good just for watching.
A little attitude with one person, but I think she must have misunderstood me - better after that first time. Bar staff excellent, breakfast staff excellent, reception staff - maybe a little more needed.
Bar space - three tables with the most uncomfortable settees I have ever sat on........if Hilton reads this - please change them if you want people to sit and drink in the bar. The seats alongside the settees also uncomfortable - could be better.
Also - bar space very small - three tables, three settees with chairs - for conference facility, hotel where large groups of people stay - too small. We tended to go out......
Rooms - Hilton, what more could you say? Clean, tidy, stocked with what is required. A little small.
Bed - very hard. Stayed three nights - hip and back aching after second night.
Air conditioning in the room - poor. Had windows open after first night.
Stay here if you want something you can rely on - Hilton - but not suring summer - you'll boil! and not if you are a large group of friends wanting a drink in the bar.

Room Tip: Ask for upgrade to river view room.

It is an Hilton so you can exactely imagine what you will have. It can be the same hotel in the nice city of Mainz or in China. All is clean, rooms and bathrooms are nice with anything you will need. The hotel has been recently renewed. Breakfast is good and you can have food in the restanurant or along the Rhein river marina just outside the hotel. there is a good car park. Staff is helpful and professional. If you do not want to risk go there.

Room Tip: All rooms are the same but you can ask for river view

This review refers to the Hilton Mainz, not to be confused with the "Hilton Mainz City".
This hotel is made of a main building on the Rhein and an additional wing on the other side of the road connected via an enclosed bridge.
I reserved a room in the main building with view over the river.
If you arrive by car you can enter the garage (22€/day), which is clearly signposted.
From there you can go directly to the lobby, there are 3 steps but then there are lifts.
Unfortunately on my first day the hotel was completely full and there was no space in the garage.
I reserve hotels based on their facilities and was not happy that the garage was not available, however there is abundance of nearby garages.
I used the Lohrstrasse garage, on the back of the Spielbank building, just in front of the Hilton.
Another option is the large Rathaus garage, 100m from the Hilton, same side of the road.
Although external garages are much cheaper, especially if you stay only the night, I always prefer to have the garage directly connected to the hotel for easy self-parking and luggage moving.
The second day (saturday) the Hilton Garage had space and this avoided additional trips to the external ones.

The location is very good, on the river, adjacent to the shopping streets, a short walk from the Dom, easy to find by car.

I had a room on the 6th floor facing the river, which was very quiet. Insulation appeared very good and the area was quiet, apart from a couple of touristic boats departing/arriving.
The room was large enough, had all the expected amenities and appeared freshly renovated.
The 32" TV had lots of international channels.
There was an electronic safe and an automatic minibar.
The door had a safety latch, as always expected at a Hilton.
The desk had a couple of mains sockets.
There was an armchair with ottoman and little round table.

The bathroom, which appeared not as fresh as the room, had a small shower in the tub with double curtain; at least there was a wide tub with flat bottom.

The room service menu was a bit limited but sufficiently varied and the food was good.
Breakfast in the restaurant at lobby level was very good with all expected items, various sliced fruits, dried fruits, yoghurts (including packaged ones), pastries etc.

Overall this hotel is a very good choice for the area.

Room Tip: In the main building rooms on the river should be quieter than those on the high traffic road. Of c...

This hotel has both good and bad points. Good points: excellent staff, very good food including catering for meetings, great access to the old city and views of the river, and quiet accommodations. Good security. Good access to the conference center next door. The average: the rooms are decent size with mediocre furnishings but very clean. Good TV access and a safe. The poor: expensive internet in room at 20 Euro/day, though free access and boarding pass printing is provided in the lobby; a small workout room with only a couple of treadmills, couple of exercycles, and a couple of ellipticals, plus weight machine. No spa, no pool keeps it from 5 stars. You can run on the paths by the river. This is a 40 minute, 4.25 Euro S8 train from Frankfurt airport so it a good place to land in Europe.

Room Tip: Even numbers look at the river.
