We have traveled a lot in Europe. These rooms are large - even for an American. Walking into the lobby we took pause - it could use some modernization, but the rooms were lovely, large, and exceptionally clean. The staff doesn't speak much English (I speak moderately good German) but were helpful. The Breakfast room is very nice and the spread was more than a normal European 'continental' breakfast. There isn't much parking near the hotel and since this was the first night of our trip, we took the train from Frankfurt airport to here and rented the car from the Bahnhof (MUCH cheaper) the next day. Would gladly come again!

The Konigshof is in a great location if you're travelling by train - literally a one minute walk from the station. The hotel itself is fine - a friendly welcome, helpful staff giving good help about where to go in the evening. i found the rooms a little dated and a bit uninspired in terms of decor, but they were fine and nothing anyone could take offence at!
Definitely good value for money, and better than most close to station hotels, certainly would stay again.

We stayed overnight during the week for a work function. We were concerned that the function would go too long so we called to report a later check-in, but the friendly receptionist informed us they are open 24 hours.
When we got to the hotel, we were surprised by how big the rooms were, how clean and modern the rooms were (we were expecting something a bit older, given the location). The breakfast buffet was continuously tended to, the selection of hot beverages included a fair selection of teas, and a cappuccino machine. The best part: when we had to leave, we were directly across from the train station & could continue our next working day.

I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights on a work meeting. It has an excellent location near the main station and the reception is open 24 hrs so you can arrive as late as you want. The receptionists were like yin and yang, with the older women who deals with guests in the day being a bit brusque but could be the German way in general whereas the younger guy at night was full of joy. The room itself was functional and had free working Wi-Fi. However, room 202 must back onto a disco as had to endure a bass sub-woofer on both nights till 2-3am, the sound even penetrated my ear-plugs because fo the low frequency. I would advise selecting rooms on either the 4th or 5th floors to be safe (other collegues were staying there and they had no problems). Breakfast was rather good, with a wide selection of choice in a quaint breakfast room.

Room Tip: Chose rooms on either the 4th or 5th floor away from the main station.

We checked in late as the trains from Frankfurt were affected by the floods. The Hotel is across from the Train Station so got there without fuss. We were delighted with Steven at the reception, he was as friendly and helpful as could be. The river cruise which we intended to take from Mainz was cancelled and Steven did not let us feel upset over this as he chalked out a wonderful walking tour for the next morning which we enjoyed very much specially the Chagall windows. Nice Spanish restaurant across the side street from the hotel had nice dinner and wine there. The ladies at the reception the next morning though were the opposite of Steven. The hot breakfast was nice, delicious bacon. Poor juice and coffee.

Stayed here overnight as we had done the Rhine boat trip and were continuing our travels by train the following morning. In order not to have to carry luggage from the river at Mainz, we left the Rhine boat at Bingen and caught the train to Mainz. This hotel is very conveniently situated for train travel, being right opposite the Hauptbahnhof. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the room comfortable (with safe and free Wifi) and the buffet breakfast very good. We had supper at a tiny Thai take-away restaurant just around the corner and had the most amazing crispy duck meal.

I absolutely loved the staff here; they were cheerful, helpful, and made every effort to help my friend and I have a great 2-day recreational stay in Mainz before journeying on to a conference. The location - truly across the street from the main rail station - was wonderfully convenient, but also a 10-15 minute walk from the city center. I never needed a taxi or even a bus/tram while in compact Mainz. The hotel's breakfast was well beyond what I've come to expect in European value hotels - hot food options included.

Rooms were spartan but entirely functional; very clean.

Two minor caveats: The beds weren't great, but I still slept RELATIVELY well, the exception being when street noise from some late-night revelers disturbed me, given Koenigshof's very central location. Also, the in-room wifi was a bit tricky. You have to login to a web portal, and I found I had to re-login frequently (and, interestingly, some social media, including Instagram, was "verboten.") But the staff were wonderful with helping me troubleshoot and there is also wifi in the lobby.

Would absolutely stay here again!

Room Tip: Street noise could be an issue; ask for a quieter room if you need.
