“Enjoyable stay in a nice location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 October 2012

I stayed at this hotel during my business trip. I'm glad to have stayed there instead of in Frankfurt itself. The town of Mainz is really lovely. The hotel is nice, clean and the staff is helpful and courteous. I had a non-smoking room, but I have to say there was a smell of smoke - not strong at all but my nose is very sensitive to smoke smell. The room size is excellent and they provide any amenities you need, even if you need slippers and bath robe. I found them very accommodating. The breakfast at the restaurant is delicious, with a big variety. The gym, pool and sauna add relaxation to the stay! The bed comfort was so so. It was kind of bouncy. If there is one issue about this hotel is the internet. The wifi is SLOW, or WAS slow at least during my stay. It was very aggravating.

The city center is cozy with lots of shops, food and drink vendors, and is scenic, etc. The hotel is a 10-minute walk from the Mainz Hbf. It's a straight-up walk, but a bit uphill. Honestly, it's a quick though and it's pretty safe even at late night. For sure, it makes it very convenient to get around. The S8 and RE lines go to the FRA airport from the Mainz Hbf station. It's about a 25 min ride or a bit less.

The hotel is literally a few minutes away from the city center. Surely, makes the stay enjoyable when you can just walk down to the city center. There is a residential complex right behind the hotel. Walk behind the hotel as you face the residential buildings, walk toward the left. You'll find the P sign for Parking Garage. Take the elevator all the way down and it will put you on the street level of the city center. Walk straight up in that alley, and you'll be in the city center. Surely convenient. Also, behind the hotel by the residential buildings, you will find a grocery store.

Overall excellent hotel and the location makes you feel in a nice German town.

A good business style hotel. The rooms were simple, but comfortable and clean for a one night stay. We did enjoy the nice spa/pool/gym area and it more than made up for the lack of upgraded room amenities. The sauna and steam room were relaxing after a long travel day and were the highlight of our stay. The location is near the train station, about a 15 minute walk, but it is uphill!

We recently spent two nights at the Novotel Mainz. The staff was friendly and helpful and the room was pleasant and comfortable. We were particularly impressed by the breakfast, which had excellent choices, both hot and cold. The dining room workers did a wonderful job of keeping everything stocked and looking appetizing. We only had one problem with the hotel, but it would probably be enough to make us think twice about coming back. The Novotel Mainz belongs to one of the dwindling number of hotels that charge a substantial fee for wifi. Not only do they charge, but they charge for every device. We had two smart phones and a laptop, meaning that it would have been three large charges to be connected in a manner that is now free at most good hotels. We had to have the laptop, and grudgingly paid for that, but were unhappy about not using all of our devices. It's time to provide free wifi. Apart from this, it's a great place. One hint--the hotel is located on a high hill, with a long, steep outdoor staircase nearby to go to the center of the town. Luckily, someone tipped us off that you can go into the apartment building next door and take an elevator to the bottom of the steps. Be sure to ask how to do this, because it makes going downtown--and particularly coming back from downtown--a breeze.

Novotel Mainz is far from mainz Hbf about 800 meter, can go by walk 10-15 minite. The way to hotel a little bit uphill. Receptionist is very nice, smile face and good english language communication. Room and bathroom size were appropriated but I found some dust on the table room. Hotel had free computer with internet service at first floor near the check in counter. Computer is limited to use about 20 minite. If you want to use wifi or LAN in your room, service charge about 9 euro per 24 hr. You must contact receptionist before, then you got internet password. Breakfast is OK.

My colleagues from Germany recommended this hotel apparently they use on the project when they travel to Mainz, it is literally few min walk from good restaurants, Beer gardens and river cruise terminals. The rooms are cozy and the internet connection is fast. Breakfast buffet is very good choices and the area is well maintained and the food is refilled very frequently. The bar and the coffee area are small but plentiful. The staff is very friendly and very helpful and most of them speak English. I checked in early between 9:00 -9:30 AM after I landed in Frankfurt and the hotel accommodated me without an issue. The Taxi was bout 45 Euros from the big airport.

Room Tip: I liked the high floor room as you can open the windows and see the city views + I think the upper r...

This hotel was one of the few chains where I could find a room with an occupancy limit above the usual 3 people, which is rather incovenient limit for my family of 4.

The family suite room was spacious, efficiently cleaned every day and the beds were some of the most comfortable I have tried.

The buffet breakfast was good and had a lot of variety.

I had requested an early check in to rest after our transatlantic flight to Frankfurt, and I was very happy the hotel was able to provide that.

The location close to the train station is very convenient. There is a short and somewhat steep climb to get to the hotel, but I found it very manageable in good weather.

The only thing that is a little unusual is that the hotel doesn´t have its own parking garage, and instead the underground parking is a city parking that costs 12 euros per night. I would have the hotel to have a special overnight parking rate for its guests. but that isn´t the case.
