its clean, central - thats it. Beds are not nice, some kind of cheap bedding. People are mixed, some are nice, some are not

bit to expensive. Guess if one books a package it makes more financial sense.
Internet is for free, but very slow. Its actually worth it to pay small amount for high speed.

The location for the hotel was kinda close to the station but off the beaten path which made it quiet confusing to get to from the train station. Hotel itself is a third star preperty, room was musty...nothing to brag about. But I couldn't fault the staff who were all genuine and hospitable. I would recommend this hotel if you're on a budget and want a No-frill place to stay.

As always in Germany - service is good. However the hotel is not charming - a bit cold and needs an update. The bar is boring and not cosy at all. Rooms are rather big - but standard. Breakfast very good with lots of choice from cold and hot buffet.
I would prefer are more genuine hotel next time in Mainz....

Situated atop a rather impressive hill, this Novotel is a comfortable base for Mainz tourism. It took us about 10 minutes o get to the Main Train station, but closer to 20 to get back up - guess we' re not as fit as we thought. Spacious, comfortable rooms with good amenities and WiFi (basic is free which was good for checking email - unrestricted bandwidth is chargeable).
Reception staff is helpful, friendly, and English-speaking.
Several Delta Airlines crews checked in here, which brings up a minor quibble; the hotel is directly under a main flight path into Frankfurt International, which might cause an early-morning problem for light sleepers.
All in all, a good Novotel facility, which we will visit again on our next trip to the area.

This hotel is logistically located at a walking distance (10 min) from the hauptbahnhof (main train station) at Mainz, and features excellent service, a cozy environment, and delicious food! The staff were very kind and welcoming, and the rooms were new and comfortable. Would definitely stay here again! The price is not cheap, but you pay for what you get :)

Had to travel during Frankfurt Messe and rooms in Frankfurt were extremely expensive, so took the 'cheaper' option of Novotel outside the area - was still extremely expensive for what you get. £160 per night for a no frills large but basic room showing signs of age , no fridge, no bath. Free internet is the only bonus. Soundproofing is not great as my first night I had screaming children who were allowed to run the corridors with a shouting father in room next door
The hotel has an underground car park and is found off the city 1 way system, if you are here for the first time it is very confusing as you need to go 2 floors underground to get to the hotel entry ( the very small swimming pool is also down here ) but there is ample parking. When leaving your car take your ticket and pay at reception with your hotel bill as it is 11.80 per night instead of 12 at the machine, and you wont need cash for the ( broken) payment machine and spend hours looking for a working machine.
Staff were efficient but I would not say friendly.
