“Nice, popular Italian Restaurant”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 November 2013

Al Cortile is a very popular restaurant in the center of the historic shopping district just off Augustiner-Str. We had reservations for upstairs (street level) seating - an absolute must on a saturday night as a number of people were turned away just as we were seated. The food was very good - not inexpensive. The mixed anitpasti was very nice, the meats and cheeses appetizers/antipasti good, but overpriced. The fish (perch on Arborio rice) was excellent and so was the veal roulade stuffed with a paste made from pumpkin, amaretti nd dried tomatoes and served with spinach gnocchi. The pizzas for which the place is known were large with a nice crust and toppings. You can get reasonably priced Italian wines for about 25€ a bottle. Service was friendly and attentive. Definitely a place to recommend.

“Nothing to write home about.”

Pizza is good, the rest of the menu is average. Service is slow and somewhat unfriendly. Tables for two are small and crowded together. There are many more, much better Italian restaurants in Mainz

“For me, it's the best restaurant in the Rhein-Main area.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 June 2013 via mobile

This is a very good restaurant with lots to choose from on the menu. To the restaurant's famous pizzas made on their stone oven to various fish and pasta dishes (among other things), you'll never become bored of what they have to offer. On top of that, when the weather is nice you can sit outside in an enclosed area that has a roof on top (for when it rains) or you can sit inside. No matter where you sit, you will have a great atmosphere to sit down in and have a good meal. Located in Mainz's 'Altstadt', the location is great and the food is even better. I highly recommend this restaurant to anybody (businessmen & businesswomen, couples, families, etc.). It really has something for everyone and you can't beat the food.

The pizza served was fresh and tasted deliciously. Long waiting though.

The water was overpriced, but I think that is common for all restaurant here in Mainz
