“Nice but Overpriced”
Reviewed 20 August 2014

The hotel is nice but the rooms are average. It's located in the center of the city, which is great for access to shopping, restaurants, cafes, bars, etc. All of the sites I wanted to see were within walking distance. The price, however, was much higher than 4 star hotels in other cities.

The hotel has an excellent location, very close to the city centre and some nice shops and restaurants. The design of the lobby is interesting, the various corners and lighting make it modern and cosy at the same time. Good bathroom with nice rain shower.
On the down side, lighting of the floors where the rooms are situated is very gloomy, which gives them an atmosphere like the nearby "Hochbunker" during an air raid.
Breakfast pricing policy is incomprihensible. On advanced booking breakfast is a forbidding 16,-- euros per person. So guests make arrangements to have breakfast outside. On arrival breakfast is offered for a reasonable 11,-- euros per person. Had we known this in advance, we probably would have had breakfast at the hotel.
Although the hotel claims to offer free Wifi, be prepared to have to pay for it.
The free Wifi is an almost hidden option, among several other non-free options, that maybe can be found after an extensive study of the German only manual.
I can't help feeling that I've been scammed

This was a great location in the city centre. Unfortunately, and it was just a small thing we were checking in as a coach load of tourists arrived so checkin was quiet slow and only one person checking people in, while another member of staff was cleaning a shelves! She decided to help out after the queue was gone. The hotel amenities are good, breakfast good and there was overall a nice atmosphere in the hotel. I would recommend it

I was in Penta (Junior Suite room) with the family and the dog for few days and must say that we all were happy with the room, food and the service! We will choose this hotel when visiting Trier next time.

Your staff is very helpful, the gym is small, but not bad. You have to pay for faster internet, but that's maybe the only criticsm I have.
The location is good and if you are a breakfast person, you'll find that it's worth the money.

We have been visiting this hotel for several years. We got an excellent deal price wise, though it didn't include breakfast. Our room was clean, spacious, and the aircon worked. The staff are friendly and helpful. My criticism would be that they are put under pressure by performing the dual role of booking in/checking out guests and serving drinks. Whose idea was that? Bathroom was recently renovated and the old 70s style avocado bathroom suite long gone! There are more luxurious hotels in Trier but this offers great prices, good staff and 4 star comforts.

Room Tip: Lower floor rooms are bigger
