The Dom of Trier is quite astonishing - it is vast in scale, and yet is surprisingly cosy. The great treasure of the Cathedral the the 'Holy Robe' - the relic of the seamless garment that Jesus wore before his crucifixion. This is given the architectural pride of place above the sanctuary.
Well worth a visit - and contrary to other reports, the cathedral is totally free to visit. (There was a charge for a guided tour, however.)
