This is an excellent, small, well run hotel. We paid a bit extra for a larger room with a balcony which was defintely worth it. The balcony was quite large with nice views.

There is a pool and sauna. We didn't try the sauna but the pool was very pleasant.

The breakfast was incredible, with an impressive choice of things to eat.

The staff were always friendly and helpful.

It's about a 15-20 minute walk into the city and It's best to ask at the hotel for directions. The first part of the walk is not that inspiring but once past the underpass and ring road you get to Trier centre by walking through some pleasant gardens.

Don't miss the Roman amphitheatre which isn't too far from the hotel. I would also recommend the all year tobaggan place that's a few miles away. Again it's best to ask at the hotel for directions as, surprisingly, there are few tourist informatjon leaflets around for places like this.

There are a couple of bars and a restaurant near the hotel, as well as supermarket and cake shop.

Trier itself is an interesting place with impressive roman remains. The city museum is well worth a visit.

We took the train to Luxembourg City one night but I can't say I would recomend that as a place to visit particularly. There is a train station near the hotel which avoids the need to go into the city to the main station - but I don't think all trains stop at this station.

Villa Hugel turned out to be more than we expected. We had a stunning room (Salzburg) across from the indoor pool. Although the weather was chilly and damp, it did not deter us from enjoying the balcony in our room. The hotel is spotlessly clean and well maintained. The staff is marvelous, very friendly and attentive. Everyone made us feel welcomed and wanted. Upon arrival, after a very long drive from Paris, they were kind enough to provide us with a very good light dinner. We also ate dinner at the hotel the next night, along with a large group staying at the hotel and enjoyed the local menu that was specially prepared for them. When we return to the Trier, we are definitely staying here and we highly recommend Villa Hugel to anyone visiting Trier. You will not be disappointed.

This was a lovely hotel in every way. The rooms were delightful. The breakfast was the best we remember in any hotel we have stayed in. Every cuisine was represented on the buffet and there was a full menu of cooked food as well. The restaurant only operates in the week and we ate there once. The food was good value but nothing special. The hotel is an easy walk into Trier and has a lovely terrace and gardens as well as a pool etc: Service was friendly and excellent

We chose this hotel after reading Tripadvisor reviews and we weren't disappointed. A beautiful house, elegantly extended, with its own indoor pool and spa. Our room (Comfort category) was spacious and immaculate. The complimentary fruit on arrival was a nice touch. It was great to have dinner on the day of our arrival - it's available from Monday to Thursday. The breakfast, as every reviewer says, was impressive to say the least and the hotel staff were all friendly and helpful. Though the town centre was accessible on foot (20 minutes via under-road tunnels) we were glad we had the car. Parking in the town was easy and cheap. My wife and I enjoyed our stay immensely and would thoroughly recommend Villa Hugel - probably the nicest hotel we've stayed in in Europe.

well worth the 95 euros a night available through booking.com. A bit out of town (20 min walk to the city centre) but pleasant views over city and hills. Excellent staff and breakfast. Spotlessly clean. Nice if small pool and lovely new sauna/steam/lounge area. Wifi available throughout but for me was temperamental. all in all a very nice hotel.

Beautiful building in excellent hilltop position overlooking Trier.
Unexpected bonus was small swimimng pool -much appreciated as Germany was baking during our visit.
Clean, comfortable with impressively powerful shower in wet room.
Breakfast on the terrace was delightful and staff were both friendly and helpful.
