This is an excellent, small, well run hotel. We paid a bit extra for a larger room with a balcony which was defintely worth it. The balcony was quite large with nice views.
There is a pool and sauna. We didn't try the sauna but the pool was very pleasant.
The breakfast was incredible, with an impressive choice of things to eat.
The staff were always friendly and helpful.
It's about a 15-20 minute walk into the city and It's best to ask at the hotel for directions. The first part of the walk is not that inspiring but once past the underpass and ring road you get to Trier centre by walking through some pleasant gardens.
Don't miss the Roman amphitheatre which isn't too far from the hotel. I would also recommend the all year tobaggan place that's a few miles away. Again it's best to ask at the hotel for directions as, surprisingly, there are few tourist informatjon leaflets around for places like this.
There are a couple of bars and a restaurant near the hotel, as well as supermarket and cake shop.
Trier itself is an interesting place with impressive roman remains. The city museum is well worth a visit.
We took the train to Luxembourg City one night but I can't say I would recomend that as a place to visit particularly. There is a train station near the hotel which avoids the need to go into the city to the main station - but I don't think all trains stop at this station.
