We have been going to Trier, and staying with the Pantenberg family for over 16 years. We have introduced our entire family to them over that time and have never stayed anyplace else in Trier. We cannot even imagine staying any where else. This hotel truly brings the meaning of family owned to life. We have smiled a welcome to Helmut and his late brothers at the entrance so many times that it is like coming home. We have shed tears and hugs with them upon departing, and will never forget how they kept the hotel open for our visit, even on the day of one brothers funeral. They are the quintessential definition of the word "Host" We are blessed to have found them and their hotel, and look forward to our next of many more visits.
Colin McGowan, and family and friends, all of whom have shared many visits here.

Stayed here for three days and loved this hotel. Set in parkland above Trier but only about 20 minute walk into the city. No issue with parking and great not having to worry about where to leave the car. Helmut the owner is very helpful and suggested where to eat in Trier. The rooms are large and very comfortable and the front rooms have a fantastic view over Trier. Breakfast was very good with a lot of choice. The wine on sale here is also to be recommended. Top tip - if you are walking into Trier at night down through the parkland path take a torch as there are only a few street lights on route.

You will love this hotel situated above the city. If you like walking, it is fairly easy to walk down the path to town. This is a family owned hotel, but the only family member that we saw, the only worker we saw was Helmut who was there serving breakfast in the morning, and greeting guests all day and night! This gentleman has a vary engaging personality and is very helpful.
The room itself was nice, with a nice view. The bed was not the most comfortable, but adequate. The breakfast is superb!

My daughter and I stayed here when we spent the weekend in Trier. It's set up on the mountain and is a bit difficult to reach with public transportation but we used taxis to the main station and downtown to the Porta Nigra and never paid more than 8 EUR. The owner was courteous and extremely helpful and we enjoyed the view of town immensely. Particularly convenient if you're driving but worth going out of your way and organizing taxis if you aren't.

This hotel is mentioned by RIck Steves and it is a charming option for lodging, especially with a car. While it is easier to find with a GPS, the road is clearly marked and the view is worth the short ride up the hill. The hotel has an elevator, but no A/C, so keep the drapes closed during the day if you have the "view" side. Our room had a balcony and 2 chairs. Free parking, free internet, and a lovely breakfast buffet for a very reasonable price. Great place to relax and take a vacation from your vacation. Nice large bathroom. The egg dish with the different mushrooms at breakfast was scrump and the coffee was hot and strong. There is so much art on the walls, of such variety, that you can have conversations about different pieces with any other guests. There were Germans, Japanese, an English couple, and three ladies in the breakfast room at the same time with us, all clearly enjoying their stay. This is distinctly a family enterprise and the wrought iron gates and foyer entrance are well done. Trier was an interesting city and deserves a couple of nights, and this hotel added greatly to our enjoyment.

Room Tip: The rooms in back have a cool green view of the hill behind it; in the front, splendid view of Trier ( but also the blazing sun).
