“Wonderful place, would definitely stay there again”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 March 2009

We booked the hotel by email about a year ahead of time. The hotel is mostly frequented by Germans but the front staff does speak very good English. The hotel, we were told by the front staff is usually filled up,especially in the Fall, and it is best to book way ahead of time.

They gave us a beautiful room which was large by European standards. There was a comfortable bed and large armoire to store our clothes for the three days we planned on spending in Trier. Also, we had a living room area with couch, chair and TV. The first day we were there our TV would not get the stations we wanted. The staff sent someone up to fix it immediately. When we got back that afternoon from our long walk along the Mosel River, the staff had brought in a brand new TV for us to use. The bathroom was very large and luxurious. We had our own balcony with chairs which overlooked the neighborhood below. The hotel was full of beautiful antiques with very large wide halls.

Two evenings we ate in the Eurenor Hof restaurant which was located in the hotel. It was a very lovely restaurant with local specialities that we enjoyed trying. The prices were expensive but it made our trip even more enjoyable. Our waiter told us of another place to go to Sunday brunch called Palace Monaise which was a hike down the Mosel on this beautiful path --about five miles. I wouldn't recommend walking this distance unless, like us, you are avid experienced walkers. We called a cab after a wonderful brunch/lunch which took us back to the hotel. Without this waiter's advice on where to eat besides the hotel restaurant, we would have missed a lifetime experience. The hotel's restaurant was very very good and I highly recommend it at least once while staying at the hotel. In the morning they served a very good breakfast of many different hot and cold foods which was included with our room rate.

The only downside to this hotel is that you are a way from the old town of Trier and the Roman ruins. We are avid walkers and with our GPS we had no trouble walking the neighborhoods of this beautiful city and at night the neighborhood behind the hotel. There is very good bus service across the street from the hotel for those who don't like to hike it as we do.

The street of Eurenor Strasse where the hotel is located has restaurants, shops and leads you to bridges crossing the Mosel River. One night we found a very good Italian restaurant close to the hotel and also an Alco supermarket to stock up on goodies for our room.

We never did use the spa facilities and pool as we were so busy touring. We would definitely stay here again and next time get a room with a kitchenette for a longer stay in Trier. This is a beautiful hotel with friendly service, excellent food and beautiful rooms.

This is a lovely, traditional German hotel. We stayed in room 134 which is described on their website as 'guest room with cosy living room'. It exceeded our expectations. We had a good sized bedroom which led into the living room which again was a good size. The bathroom was very large with a bath and a separate wet room. The room was traditionally furnished which we love. We had an absolutely enormous terrace as well.

The hotel is in a residental area some distance from Trier, so if you like to walk everywhere this is not the hotel for you. but there is a bus stop just outside the hotel and there are regular buses so it is not a problem. There is plenty of free parking including an underground car park and the outside of the hotel is landscaped very well but there are no nice views - you are in a city!

The wellness area is again very good. The pool is not large but there is a steam bath, a sauna, a warm room and an excellent relaxation area with water beds. We did not have any treatments so cannot comment.

The food in the hotel is again good, with an excellent choice at breakfast and we also ate in the restaurant. The food is mainly German but with some salads and the wine list was excellent. there is also a small bar which is welcoming and cosy. I can find little or nothing to criticise about this hotel and would definitely visit again if in Trier.

We stayed in Room 231, a category Wohlfuhl Dopplezimmer, or "Feel Good" Double Room, for one night. It was a rather large and comfortable room with a big balcony overlooking a pretty terrace. The room was clean and quiet. It was a bit of a hike from the check-in desk to the room, but it was close to the restaurant for dinner and breakfast.

When we checked in, my husband spoke in German the entire time, so I wasn't sure if the staff knew English. However, when we went to dinner, our waitress discovered that I only spoke English, and she spent the rest of the evening speaking in perfect English with us. The food at the restaurant was good, and all the tables were full, so dinner reservations are definitely recommended if you stay here. They have a very good wine list at the restaurant, full of Mosel wines as well as a select group of French and Italian wines that are quite highly rated. The breakfast buffet had cold cuts, cereals, breads, jams, scrambled eggs, juices and fruits.

We did not use any of the spa services, but we walked through the pool and spa area and it looked pleasant.

For a long weekend getaway, we decided to visit Trier, and to treat ourselves to a spa hotel at the same time.

We found the hotel easily, and the receptionist doing the checkin was wonderful.

Our room was clean and fresh with wonderful old furniture.

As it was early afternoon, we thought we would be able to walk into Trier centre, but the receptionist hinted that it was too far, and said to either drive or take a bus (the stop is just outside the hotel).

The next morning, we had a very good breakfast - with the best omlette I've ever had in a hotel. Later in the day, we tried the pool and spa facilities. The pool was a little small, and all the pool-side recliners were taken, or reserved with towels places over them. But the saunas and steam-rooms were nice. As was the relaxation room.

We also had some treatments, which were perfect.

That same night we ate in the hotel restaurant, and found it very very good.

One recommendation for the hotel would be to include a little more information in English. All the signs in the spa area and information in the room was in German... Not very useful to those who don't understand the language.

Overall, I liked the place very much, and would go back again.

  • Liked — The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff
  • Disliked — It's a little too far out of Trier to walk.

I found out about this hotel through a travel guide and contacted the hotel directly to book. We were travelling as a family of 2 adults and 2 children so were given a suite of 2 rooms with bathroom which was like a mini apartment. The restaurant is fantastic and I would highly recommend eating there. The pool and spa area is beautiful and extremely relaxing - our two boys enjoyed a swim in the pool daily. As previously mentioned the hotel is not in the centre of Trier but as we were driving this was not an issue for us. I would recommend this as a comfortable place to stay with great sized family rooms.

When we confirmed our reservation, we received a message promising that we would be spoilt at the hotel - that was actually true!
The hotel is very comfortable and the staff is superkind. There is really all you can wish - very good spa facilities and a small but very enjoyable swimming pool, an excellent and superabundant breakfast, newspapers and magazines (every morning the hotel publishes its own newspaper, informing about activities going on in the region that day). Our standard room was nicely decorated and had a large bathroom. The restaurant
The only down side is that you need a car, as the hotel is located on the opposite side of the river in respect to the centre.
