We booked the hotel by email about a year ahead of time. The hotel is mostly frequented by Germans but the front staff does speak very good English. The hotel, we were told by the front staff is usually filled up,especially in the Fall, and it is best to book way ahead of time.
They gave us a beautiful room which was large by European standards. There was a comfortable bed and large armoire to store our clothes for the three days we planned on spending in Trier. Also, we had a living room area with couch, chair and TV. The first day we were there our TV would not get the stations we wanted. The staff sent someone up to fix it immediately. When we got back that afternoon from our long walk along the Mosel River, the staff had brought in a brand new TV for us to use. The bathroom was very large and luxurious. We had our own balcony with chairs which overlooked the neighborhood below. The hotel was full of beautiful antiques with very large wide halls.
Two evenings we ate in the Eurenor Hof restaurant which was located in the hotel. It was a very lovely restaurant with local specialities that we enjoyed trying. The prices were expensive but it made our trip even more enjoyable. Our waiter told us of another place to go to Sunday brunch called Palace Monaise which was a hike down the Mosel on this beautiful path --about five miles. I wouldn't recommend walking this distance unless, like us, you are avid experienced walkers. We called a cab after a wonderful brunch/lunch which took us back to the hotel. Without this waiter's advice on where to eat besides the hotel restaurant, we would have missed a lifetime experience. The hotel's restaurant was very very good and I highly recommend it at least once while staying at the hotel. In the morning they served a very good breakfast of many different hot and cold foods which was included with our room rate.
The only downside to this hotel is that you are a way from the old town of Trier and the Roman ruins. We are avid walkers and with our GPS we had no trouble walking the neighborhoods of this beautiful city and at night the neighborhood behind the hotel. There is very good bus service across the street from the hotel for those who don't like to hike it as we do.
The street of Eurenor Strasse where the hotel is located has restaurants, shops and leads you to bridges crossing the Mosel River. One night we found a very good Italian restaurant close to the hotel and also an Alco supermarket to stock up on goodies for our room.
We never did use the spa facilities and pool as we were so busy touring. We would definitely stay here again and next time get a room with a kitchenette for a longer stay in Trier. This is a beautiful hotel with friendly service, excellent food and beautiful rooms.
