“Good hotel, huge room.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 January 2014

Good hotel, huge room. Handy to tram. Handy to shops. Good breakfast buffet. Good Italian restaurant. Only thing I could fault would be the pillows. They were way too soft. Plenty of room for three adults.

Room Tip: Corner suites are large.

3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 December 2013

We stayed here in December over the Stollen festival. Generally the hotel was quite good, but seemed to be fairly expensive compared to other German cities such as Berlin. However, this might have been due to the timing and stollen festival. Depending on what you want, it's in a reasonable location to the main shopping area and big shopping centre but it's a tram ride away from the good coffee shops and slightly more arty/cultural area of the baroque new town.

Pros:
- Big, extensive breakfast. Expensive if you can't get it included in the room rate though.
- Rooms are clean and big.
- Reasonable location - about 10 minute walk to the main shopping centre and the big Christmas market
- Tram stop right outside hotel and only about 10 minute tram ride over to the other side of the river and the baroque new town.
- Half an hour taxi ride from the hotel to the airport. Hotel will book a taxi for you at a cost of 25 to 30 euros which you pay directly to the taxi driver.
- Small precinct next to hotel with two supermarkets and a few restaurants (chinese and sushi)

Cons:
- Wifi was meant to be included in the room rate but it turns out the hotel doesn't have any free wifi. You have to use a local (slightly dodgy) T-Mobile hotspot, which you have to either pay for yourself on the log in screen or ask for a card downstairs at reception for 5 euros with a 24 hour login and password on it. You can also only have one device at a time on the hotspot, so if there are two of you who want to use you're phones, you have to take it in turns.
- No tea, coffee or kettle in the room, which is a bit of a pain if you want a hot drink (or a noodle pot late at night!).
- You have to pay extra for any TV channels beyond German channels and BBC worldwide. However, we paid for the sky channels one night which were meant to be available in both German and English but Sky movies was only in German, so bit of a waste of money.

If we were to stay in Dresden again, we'd probably try and stay over the other side of the river in the new town, as we'd prefer to be closer to an area where there are lots of coffee shops on street corners. Also, although quite a lot of the restaurants had vegetarian options, all the good vegetarian restaurants are in the new town, but again it depends what you want from your hotel location!

we arrived without a reservation, the other hotels nearby had no triple rooms available. the girl at the Reception was very polite and efficient and the check in was quick. we got a nice room, everything looks very new! you can set the AC to your liking, reasonable minibar prices, very comfy beds. within walking distance from the Center, we parked the car in the underground garage for an additional fee (perhaps hotel guests could get it for free or with a discount?). wonderful breakfast with a vast selection of cereals, meats, cheeses and so on, even Prosecco:) check out time is noon which is again a plus!

We really liked this hotel, nice, clean, great breakfast. We room big enough for 2 adults and 2 children, beautiful bathroom, having a shower and a bath. Radio in the bathroom!!! We just love it, we had 2 rooms, 2 tv sets. Nice view, hotel near the centre. The only thing we missed was a children area with some toys that would help a lot. May be a swimming pool beacause we like it or some fitness area. But for a short stay this is ideal!

Room Tip: High floor rooms.

Dear guests,

thank you very much for your nice words and description of your stay. The children area with toys is definetly a project for 2013!!
Our gym and sauna will be modernised in spring 2013, we would be glad to welcome you again in the new year.

with kind regards

It was my first 4-star hotel in Germany. I guess everything was fine for this kind of hotels. It was always clean and nice in the room and bed was really confy. But if you in Dresden not for business, but to look around the city - this hotel is pretty far from the center. If you arrived by train - better take a tram to hotel (there is two different tram stops right next to the hotel) because it's a long walk. Using a tram to get to the center is also will be much faster and a lot nicer (because area where hotel is located it's really a bedroom community).

Also they gave us the last room on the floor (probably I'm 21 years old and was wearing zombie t-shirt unlike other hotel guests are white collar mister suits) and walking from and to the elevator was not ok.

Dear Guest,

thank you for commenting your stay in our hotel Elbflorenz Dresden. It is right that you might walk 10 minutes to reach the city centre. But our advantage is that you have many possibilities using public transportation like tram and train.

Please do not hesitate to contact us, we will notice that you like to have a room in the near of the lifts.

With kind regards
Your Hotel Elbflorenz Team

I have been to the hotel Elbflorenz within a convention. This hotel is well organized for this kind of event, but can suit also for week-end in couple or in family. The bedrooms are big and comfortable. You will also enjoy nice breakfasts and meal buffets. Last but not least, the hotel is located at a walking distance from the city center of Dresden.
